Hi guys

My name is Alicia, I will be receiving my TM on Saturday after 6 long months of saving (and going on an OS holiday). I have decided to get TM a few months earlier in an effort to save more money over the next few months!! Currently that feels like I am going backwards, however, the multitude of TM owner assure me, it will save me money in the long run!

Its fair to say I AM VERY EXCITED ;D ! Currently my cooking skills add up to very little and I am looking forward to cooking, creating and serving food with more confidence (currently spag bog and cheese toasties, are up there with my "best" dishes!!)

If anyone has the time to reply I would love some clues on the following;
1. Essential Basic Ingredients
2. Your favorite full proof dishes
3. any tm user tips

I am looking forward to hearing from you as well as reporting back my culinary efforts!

Hi Alicia, welcome to the forum. You are about to become a great cook with the help of your new kitchen appliance but don't tell your visitors just how easy it was to prepare the delicious food you are serving them. ;) ;)

Hi Alicia, welcome!

JD has given you a great list of posts.  I would say make a Isi's easy rolls or the basic bread, maybe a fruit loaf?  The milk and honey loaf is good!  Not sure where you are but we made loads of sorbets when we first got our machine.  

My favourite recipes from the cookbook you get with the machine are the cauliflower soup and tomato and red lentil soup in addition to the above.

This forum has loads of ideas and hints.  So excited for you to get cooking!

Living in Adelaide currently so looking at hot meals vs the sorbet's but come the summer heat and I might need a 2nd freezer!

All the links have been great and thank you to you for adding some of your own favorites, its great to get other peoples advice!

I am glad June has a long weekend, lots of time to play with TM  :D

I will let you know how I go!

Hi Alicia, how exciting!!!!!!!  ;D

JD, as usual has given you some great information. She's a star, she really is.

One of the first things I think you should make is the vege stock concentrate in the EDC book. It's a staple & I'm always reaching for it. If your family has a sweet tooth, make some profiteroles, using the choux pastry recipe from the forum (not the EDC!).

I made these, thinking there's no way they'll work out (because I was a pretty bad cook!), but I wanted to "impress" my husband - and they were delicious!!! I was so chuffed  :D

Welcome Alicia

I agree with Karen (salval). Make the vege stock concentrate first. It's in lots of dishes and adds lots of flavour. After that pick the dishes that appeal to you and cook up a storm. This forum is a fabulous resource if you need help. (I spent an awful lot of time here getting my mayo right :))

As for easy starter dishes, ohhh so many to pick from. Some that I still make a lot are:

Bron's Minestrone (forum)
Pizza base (EDC)
Pasta with Tuna (EDC)
Baf's Creamy Chicken & Vegies (forum)
Rock cakes (EDC)

Hello again

Well my TM arrived today and haven't I been having FUN!

My consultant and I made soup with fresh bread, it was delicious and SOO easy.

As soon as my consultant left I made a chocolate cake and am i currently eating my mushroom risotto..

 :D Ha ha Karen that is so funny, my husband does not know what is going on, I just keep coming out with new food!
I am so happy with how it is going and the fun I am having. The time saving is phenomenal, because I have some much more time I make so much more food!

I have a friend coming over on Saturday who wants to have a play and friends coming for dinner on Sat night so she can see it in action as well.

I have made;
pumpkin soup
bread - using buckwheat
chocolate cake
chocolate mousse
Crepes
Stock
Tuna mornay
dinner rolls (whole wheat)
butter chicken
beetroot salad
pizza dough
steamed chicken with mushroom sauce
the famous mash potato
chocolate jaffa mousse.

WOW - all that in 4 days! I even impress myself, and more so, I am getting better at understanding, foods, flavors, quantities. So for someone who was an absolute drip in the kitchen Im doing things I thought only came in jars, plus it taste better and doesnt have the additives.
