That's great news - congratulations.   And you must be a near neighbour of mine.... how exciting.  I live in Broomhill - I guess if you live on a farm you aren't in the city centre ?  :D :D

just up the road from you! Broomhill is where we shop! Im looking at my list of ingredients ready for tomorrows afternoon demo, and the machine is being delivered in the morning! Im toying with the idea of heading off to waitrose to buy pasturised egg whites for the sorbet we are making, even though we have enough eggs to sink a battleship (just so we can all eat it!)......how have you found the machine??? I keep justifying it to myself............I hope I can do it justice!

I do not regret my purchase for a second and don't think I ever will.

I used to love cooking before having my children.  Then finding myself raising 2 boys alone and the associated sports etc, and fulltime management positions I never had the time and cooking became a chore.

Now I am cooking things that I have never ever cooked before as it took too long or you had to stand there and keep stirring.

Enjoy!

Welcome joolsmicra. I'm sure you will have no problems justifying the machine. You will find it so easy to make so many things now. It is so good to have a cook in and then find you have very little washing up because you have used the TMX and not all the bowls you own. ;)

Welcome joolsmicra.

Don't go to the shop for pasteurised eggs.  Use some of your own and pasteurise them in your new, fabulous toy!

Thankyou for your welcome! I am trying to get the kitchen a little tidier ready for the demo! We were gathering in the sheep yesterday,so kitchen tidying was at the bottom of my agenda.
Love the tip on pasturising eggs....... because of my mum being ill, Im reluctant to give her our eggs, because they are VERY free range!
He he........cant wait for its arrival!

Hi Welcome to the world of TMXing.

I've had mine 6-7 months now and love it more every day.  Even dh who was livid at the spend when I bought it is now really impressed with it and actually wants to use it!!!  He's starting to see its versatility and is beginning to be impressed.  I took it on holiday with me last week (we have our own caravan) and instead of eating out several times like we usually do on holiday we ate out only once at a pub recommended to us.  The food really was fab there too! :)

We rarely eat out now or get takeaways because the TMX really has elevated my cooking to a better standard than the restaurants we can afford  ;D

On the egg front - we kept our own chickens until a year ago and I never thought twice about giving the eggs to my under 2 year old.  I'd be happier giving an infant/ill person my own free range eggs than shop bought to be honest - at least you are aware of the health of your birds ...  They're probably kept much cleaner than shop bought ...

I was like you when we first got the machine because it seemed to be very expensive and I thought it would be like other kitchen gadgets that I had bought and rarely used.

Turns out I was wrong to worry - I use the machine every day and our eating has been transformed.  We always ate reasonably healthily but didn't vary our menu very much.   I now love to try new dishes and do more adventurous things as the TMX makes it so much easier.   I can't think when we last bought a take-out or ready meal as you can rustle up a risotto in less time than it takes to get a take-out and not much longer than to heat up a ready meal.   We make all our own bread and I find soup making a doddle.

I was advised to buy a second bowl when I got my machine as it is cheaper then (I think the discount applies for a few months afterwards as well).  If you can afford to do so, I strongly recommend it as it makes cooking so much easier.   It's not essential by any means but if you do get another, you won't regret it

There are loads of brilliant recipes on this forum and the Fast & Easy cookbook is really good as well - it seems to be better than the EDC which is the Australian one.   The Indian cookbook is also a must-have if you like Indian food.

One word of warning - I shop in Waitrose and use their brand arborio rice for risotto.  Last time I was there, they didn't have any so I bought Gallo brand rice and it seems to break up more in the machine so the risotto is slushier..... still tastes ok but the texture isn't right.  I am going to experiment and try and see if I can get it better.

Sorry for such a long post but I'm so excited to have another user so close by  ;D ;D ;D 8) 8)

I can relate to your excitement:  got my Thermomix yesterday evening!  Have now cooked lime custard, carrot-lentil & coconut soup, fresh juice for breakfast, persimmon sorbet for my boys afternoon tea and a butter chicken curry for dinner.  All beautiful! Having fresh produces handy make things so easy too.
Have fun cooking!
