Sticky Date Pudding
« on: June 17, 2011, 11:20:01 am »
This is the recipe I use and decided to convert it today with the help of the Sticky Date Pudding in the EDC. There is not a lot of difference in the recipe just a few different steps. (Converted from Best recipes)

Sticky Date Pudding

150g Seeded Dates
300g Boiling Water
1 teaspoon Bicarb soda
50g Butter
90g Brown Sugar
2 Eggs
150g Self Raising Flour

Preheat Oven to 180, Grease deep 20cm round cake tin.
Place dates in TM bowl and sprinkle with bicarb, pour boiling water on top and stand for 5 min.
After 5 min mix 10 seconds speed 7, scrape down sides.
Add butter and sugar and mix 10 seconds speed 4.
Add eggs and flour blend 5 sec speed 4, scrape down sides and mix further 5 sec speed 4.
Pour mixture into prepared tin, Bake around 50 min.
Leave in tin 10 minutes before turning out onto a serving plate.

To Make Sauce

120g brown sugar
300g cream
80g Butter

Add all into clean TM Bowl and cook 5 minutes at 80 degrees speed 4.
pour over individual slices of pudding.

Hope you enjoy as we do.

Dede, have you tried steaming mini puddings in the varoma. Lovely and moist and done in 25 minutes. Use the silicon patty pans(kmart sell them for $2)

No Bedlam I have not tried this as yet, I have the silicon cupcake moulds already. How much water would I put in the TM? I will have to give that a go.

Dede, 1.2 ltr in bowl for 25 minutes- that is for the small cupcake size moulds. We really enjoy them, they are moist and delicious.

Dede,wonder,
I have compared the edc and the lighthouse promo sticky date cook in the varoma. There is a difference in the varoma recipe delete eggs. Pudding method
Place silicon mould in varoma
Mill sugar 10 sec/ speed 10 set aside
Add dated and water cook 5 min/100c/speed 1
Add bicarbonate and mix 5sec/speed7
Add butter ,vanilla, and sugar mix 10 sec reverse speed 6
Divide between moulds.
Rinse bowl, place 1.2 litre water into bowl set varoma position, steam 25-30 min speed 3.
Cool slightly before turning out.  Yum

Very similar just no eggs
The sauce Ingred are the same but cook butter cream and sugar  5 min/90c/speed4 then add vanilla through lid and mix 10 sec speed 4
Hope I haven't confused everyone, these are lovely and moist and quite quick, good not having to turn oven on. I haven't cooked them as DD1 cooked,I ate.

the Lighthouse Promo ones are not only cooked in the varoma and egg free, the are also can be made gluten free! They work well with GF flour.  They are so easy to cook in the varoma and I think just as nice  :)

I just stuffed up my post lol, having problems with my internet today and it is taking it's time to post and leaving info off

I MEANT TO SAY - they work well with gluten free flour!!

I am going to go and change that post in case someone reads it and doesn't read any further  :o

Oh no Denise, I think between us all we confused everyone with the butterfly, as Megan said if the symbol is at the top of the bowl it is the RHS  :-)) :-))
