Here is a photo of the uncooked product. As you can see I think I should have milled the oats a bit first. The cake is still hidden. I will put a photo of the cut cake soon.
May all dairy items in your fridge be of questionable vintage.

We tried this yesterday and it is still very dry. Will try leaving it for a few more days. I really think I should have ground my oats up smaller.
May all dairy items in your fridge be of questionable vintage.

I haven't been following the two Parkin threads this last wee while so don't know what it is like to eat or how it is made - is it a 'chocolatey' slab type of thing?  If so and it already seems dry then I suspect the oats will not soften any more and may make it too chewy and feeling dry in the mouth.

So, the question is "How to save the Parkin"?  I'm no good with this sort of thing and I suspect grinding the mixture up again in the TMX then 'doctoring' it somehow would be totally counter-productive but it looks like you've gone to so much trouble the Parkin can't be abandoned.  It will be good to see what everyone else suggests.

I am so sorry Cookie the cake recipe didn't work   :'( :'(  The author is a very well respected cookery writer and normally her recipes always work. Must put you off making anything I suggest again.

Definitely not CC. I think the fault is mine. I realised the oats was too 'big' and should have done something and not been so lazy.

I think my solution is to slice it, butter it and send it to car club with DH tomorrow. 8)
