Hello from Perth, Australia :)
« on: June 19, 2011, 06:22:54 pm »
Well I've finally bit the bullet and bought a thermomix after hearing many things about it from friends with one.
(And the fact that my food processor needed to be replaced  :-)))
I've only had my TM for a week now but have already found out how useful it has been in the kitchen.
It's like having a second helper around  :D

Not to mention, I've been so impressed with the multi functions the TM does that I've started emptying my pantry with other appliances that are now no longer needed! So it's also become a space saver too  8)

It's great to see there is such a big community for this product.
Plus my TM consultant has been so helpful and supportive.
I can't wait to try some of the recipes on this forum.

Hi CEL, and welcome. I'm so glad you have purchased a Thermomix as I think everyone should have one so they can benefit from it's many uses. The TM really makes life so much easier in the kitchen. I've only had mine close to 6 months and still enjoy using it everyday. We all eat so much healthier with very little packet stuff. I feel like I have much more control in what my family is eating. You will find this forum to be extremely valuable for lots of recipes and information. If you ever get stuck just ask here and there is always someone who can help out. Enjoy your new helper.  ;D

Welcome CEL! So glad you could join us. I bet you can do more things with this 'food processor' than the old one. I would tell you to vote for your state but your a Westie so I won't encourage it.  ;) :D

Hello CEL - you've made two good decisions lately.  Firstly buying the TMX and secondly, joining us here on the forum - welcome and I know you will enjoy your time on here.  I hope you've left your little baby out on the bench and not put him into one of the spaces you've cleared in your cupboards as you will be using him many times a day if you are like some of us forum members.  From breakfast through to the evening cocktail - he will be there for you.  Have fun and let us know what you are cooking. Check out some of the favourite recipes from our lovely member CP63 CEL - this is a good list from which to make some choices.

Hey CEL from another new Perthie here.  I got my TM in March and every week I find I am using it more and more.  Whereabout are you?  I am north of the river.

My pantry is gradually shrinking -- I no longer have to stock icing sugar, castor sugar, bread crumbs, stock, tomato paste, etc, etc.
A couple of applicances that I have got rid of are my rice cooker and bread maker -- neither were very successful anyway, my blender, cake mixer and hand held haven't been used once since I've got my TM so I can probably do with another clean out and make more room for the bread tins, baking trays and pans I need to buy.  ;D

I have found soooooo many yummy recipes on here and the best bit is they've been tried and tested and tweaked to perfection by the time I find them  :)

Wow I can't believe how many people on this forum are from WA!  :o

Thanks all, for the welcomes :)

@ Cookie-la-la - I'm sort of north east :) Maylands / Mt Lawley side.
I've tried rice in the TM but I must admit the rice cooker still does it better. Shame  :'(

@ judydawn - Yes the TM has earnt a spot on the kitchen bench next to the toaster.
Pity it doesn't do toast otherwise the toaster would be gone too! LOL
I try to use it everyday so it's definitely out to stay.

Hi CEL welcome - another Perthie here  ;) WA has the most TM owners because head office is here and there are the most consultants here ( I think ) what sort of rice are you cooking and for how long? I love the rice in the TM and have banished my rice cooker to the back of the bottom cupboard, possibly to be passed on to someone else soon  8)

Hi Meagan,
I'm using Jasmine rice that I always use in my rice cooker.
Following the recipe from the EDC, I tried the rice at 13mins and it wasn't cooked enough, so I put it on for another 2 mins so 15 mins total to be cooked through.
To me, it tastes like boiled rice rather than steamed rice. It does get better after you leave it in the Thermo Server though.
But it still just lacks that soft fluffy texture that I would get from the rice cooker.

I use basmati 14/16 mins as per recipe and it is fantastic every time. I wonder if it is jasmine that needs a different amount of time. Funny I find the rice cooker rice dry and the TM rice soft and fluffy :)
