I can't resist  :-)) I always have to look at this thread to see all the goodies. I love to see the shopping here :)
These are my latest additions.
The T2 pack was from the sale thing (thanks Gert) and just $11 :o
Saw the fig tree while getting the fresh fruit and veg from a small local producer. Hopefully I will have my own figs in the not too distant future.

I would love to have a fig tree - are they hard to look after?

We did have one Michele but pulled it out.  Had a lot of fruit  but its root system was a bit of a problem in the garden.

I've had no experience  Mich, but I believe you can grow them in large pots... :)

I have two growing in pots quite happily.  One is only fairly young but the other one has been in its pot for about 8 years.  They are pretty forgiving, there have been a couple of times that I have forgotten to water the larger one and its dropped all its leaves....I give it a bit of love and it comes good.  I get quite a lot of fruit off of it...about 20 figs....although this year it has been a battle with the ants to get to the ripe fruit first.  I haven't planted any in the ground as I was worried about the roots getting into our pipes...we have already had one expensive pipe repair when a couple of trees broke into a pipe looking for water when Brisbane was in drought.  I do have quite a few citrus trees and a couple of olives and today I planted coffee, tamarillo and some more guavas.  I was given a gift voucher for a nursery at Christmas but have been hanging off waiting for rain....we have finally had some so I'm plant shopping next weekend.

Sure did Yvette :D I happened to be going by the day after it opened and now I keep finding excuses to go to the Towers :-))
I would love to have a fig tree - are they hard to look after?
The producer I bought it from says figs are quite hardy once established. No doubt time will tell :-)) She and her DH are quite accomplished market gardeners as they grow many things, including cherries, here in Sydney. She said to spray a water mist on the leaves in the hot weather, plant the tree in full sun in the garden and keep the water up to it when it is fruiting. We don't have a problem with root systems in our backyard as our block is about 3-4 times bigger than a normal suburban block and the tree is quite a way from our house.
Stacelee an olive tree is next on my list to plant. Do you have any recommendations ?

Thanks for all the advice. Looks like a fig tree in a pot would be the way to go for me.  :)

Gayle we are welcomed with a cheerful hello when we go to T2. A bit like Gert possibly. They know us well.

Hally have you had some nasty hot weather up there or are you keeping cool?

The parcel post man has just been. He delivered a parcel for me from Kitchenware Direct. Some lovely forum members gave me some vouchers to spend there. Here are my new treasures.
A cake tin that I have been coveting for some time but would not pay the money for it. I can't wait to use it.

Also a Melty pot. It goes in the microwave, oven , freezer everywhere. Copes with temperatures from -50 to + 300 degrees. I seem to break every small bowl I have for melting things in. I can't break this one and it will be well used.

Thanks everyone.
