Judy, we used to take my Nana shopping when she was alive. There'd be 4 generations of girls out for the day. (Nana, Mum, Me and my 2 girls)
Mum and I used to joke that we had 3 kids under the age of 90 to watch!!
Nana would be in her wheelchair and if we weren't moving she'd get antsy and put her feet to the floor and push herself along. So if I was chatting to Mum about something in the window and wasn't watching Nana, when you turned around she'd be gone!
We had many a heart attack til we found her again - the old dear could get that wheel chair moving and would often be quite a distance away!
We decided that the girls were easier as if we said "stay here" then they would. If we said that to Nana she'd say "yes dear" with a twinkle in her eye and would be off in a flash the minute we turned our backs! If we told her off she'd just smile sweetly and say " I wanted to look at the things in the window further along!"
We finally got it sorted, would tell the kids to keep an eye on Nana and if she took off then they were to stick with her, they loved pushing her chair and she'd give them a running commentary in her not so quiet voice (she was pretty deaf so her whisper was not a whisper!) about what a ridiculous skirt that girl was wearing, how many earrings did one need, how fat/skinny that person is, and our least favourite - look at the darkies, what are they doing here?
We'd have morning tea, lunch and "I can't fit another thing in, but oooo that cake looks lovely and I'd like a coffee too" afternoon tea!
Nana would be happy and we'd all be exhausted by the time we got home!

I can just picture it Nikkit, especially the comments. My Mum's hearing isn't the best either and she has been known to say in a waiting room 'if I ever get that big, shoot me won't you'. Waiting for one of her heart specialist's appointments for 3/4 hour she told me that this was the last time she was coming here and funnily enough when we did get inside his room and he did her test, he told her he didn't think she needed to come again unless her GP felt her condition had worsened - coincidence or did the receptionist pass on what she'd heard? It was certainly said loud enough for everyone in the large waiting room to hear. Sometimes you just want a hole to open up and swallow you
Bless her.

Do you have the concessional licence fees for all your older cars Robyn? We do for hours, otherwise it would cost us a fortune to license and insure them. Do you have special number plates for them? We have 1930 for our 1930 cars and when the 1928 one is complete we hope to be able to get 1928 for that. It sort of makes them special.

I still have lots of lovely voucher spending ahead of me. I had to go to the bank today so popped in and bought this with some of a voucher. It will just confirm that I am a sloth, but now I will have proof.

Cookie, would love your opinion on this. I am waiting for Fitbit Force to be available in Australia but the force seems to have a few issues with the strap causing skin irritation.

Cookie1 you have lost me; what is a sloth and what is the wristband for; if you don't mind me asking that is. I wasn't going to look at this thread because I didn't want to be buying lots of things. I just started looking at about page 700 and am hooked but its too far back to read the lot. Lots of great things though.
