I have a fridge with 2 drawers at the bottom as the freezer and a little freezer about the size of a decent sized bar fridge which is virtually useless Uni.  I can hardly move in either of them - both chockers. I will get rid of the little freezer, no point running 3 and I'm sure I won't need it once the new one arrives.

Famous last words     Maybe you should put it in your shed for a little while just to make sure you don't need it. It could be very handy for all those little things that can get lost in a bigger freezer.

I have to defrost it every 4 weeks so it will be easy to get rid of girls.  It fits into a space the kitchen people left for it with a small gap around the edges but I don't think it is enough - I'm sure it never used to freeze over so quickly before I had the new kitchen put in.  Plus I'm thinking of the electricity bill

electricity bills are a killer JD, not to bad for us now that all of the kids have moved out. about $350 a 1/4

Is the space big enough for a small wine cooler?  Or an ice maker?   My kitchen originally had a trash compactor in the space where I now have an ice maker.  When the trash collection company changed to reclaiming all the recyclable trash and said they didn't want it put through a trash compactor, I had that removed and the ice maker installed.  I manage to use a lot of ice, more than is produced by the icemaker in my fridge and unlike the fridge, when I am going to be away I can just turn it off and turn off the water supply, hang a bag of the drying crystals inside and prop the door ajar to prevent mildew or mold.

Thanks andie but with the amount of wine that gets consumed in this house, I wouldn't need a wine cooler - I'm sure I can find something at Ikea to fill the spot, never enough drawers in my house.

Our power bills are great at the moment. Thanks to the solar electricity we had put in last June our bill is now $622 in credit.

That's great Cookie - I've not heard from anyone with them here as to how much they are saving.  You may never have to pay another electricity bill
