She sounds lovely Maddy. Many years ago my DD would have requested the same. Now it is mainly books. She's outgrown the games. She even has her own book blog now and seems to get rather a lot of free and /or pre release books to read. this is combined with working full time and studying.

We are all very proud of oour DD's no matter what. HAPPY BIRTHDAY to yours Maddy.

Ordered Claudia Roden's "The Food of Spain" - I love Spanish food and Claudia writes such wonderful books - a lot of background info and history as well as recipes. Recipe measurements are not metric but not a big bother.

I'm off to buy myself a birthday pressie today.
The Husband did a major birthday fail this year by simply stopping by the Chanel counter on the way home the day before and buying me a bottle of No. 5.   I don't like No. 5.   >:(
I've mentioned this before, when he has done this, but have loyally worn it instead of the Chanel Coco which is my favourite and has been for 20 years - something he has obviously failed to notice.
This year I have decided NOT to wear a perfume I dislike for months on end until I use it all up and instead am taking it back.  :o
I already have 3/4 of a bottle of Coco, but I'm pretty sure I will be able to find something else at the Chanel counter to spend the not insubstantial amount of money on!  ;D ;D

Thanks to spring, my sinuses are stuffed to the gunwales today, Maddy, so probably not the best day to select a new perfume.  :(
I intend getting me some other Coco products to "layer the scent" as those ladies say - and whatever else I damn well feel like!

As they say in America ... "you go girl!!!" - or at least I THINK they say it in America - according to a trashy novel I once read they certainly said it!!!!

Hope you had / have a great birthday.

Men have no idea generally what us girls like so if you don't nip it in the bud now Amanda, you will probably get another bottle next year  :D :D  DH & I long gave up giving each other presents, firstly he can't get out to get me anything (did order flowers for me for a long time but then I tired of that) unless I take him and he is the hardest person in the world to buy for.  Nowadays, if we want something we just get it and don't bother with birthdays or Christmas either. We just go out for a meal on birthdays, anniversaries or whenever we feel like it.

I have just ordered a replacement security system - ours was 19 years old and gave up the ghost last week.

I don't like No. 5.   >:(

My favourite perfume is the Allure, then the Madamoiselle (in white box). I hate No. 5 as well and have feigned delight in receiving a big bottle for Christmas. So well acted in fact that I received another bottle for my birthday 6 months later... :'(
Mecca have this gorgeous perfume that I have my eye on that reacts with the chemicals in your body so on each person it smells different. I go wild in that shop  :-))

Amanda, grab some body cream, body lotion, sometimes they have soaps too, so you can layer the scent on.
I love Coco too.
