We are Nespresso lovers. We have two machines, one in the kitchen and one for traveling. They are quite costly in Australia so every trip i make back, I take one for a friend,  just bought one for my mom for €49.  They cost $299 in aus.  So that and a thermomix will make for some heavy hand luggage.

You wouldn't believe how hard it was to find biscuit/cake tins in my area - finally found some today.  Not exactly my colour but they will be kept in the pantry anyway so a bit of pink will remind me of maddy every time I open them  ;)

we have these types of biscuit tins from brittany (bretagne) and they are fantastic as they have a humidity element in the lid that keeps biccies fresh for alot longer than in any other type of container..

To celebrate Thermie's new found wellness, I bought him a little present.  Wunderbares Backen.  This is obviously a baking book, all in German.  Just made bagels to celebrate.

I've got some vintage cracker/cookie "keepers" with a removable hollow knob on the lid that contains a dessicant to keep the contents dry.

The knobs can be "baked" in the oven to remove the moisture the crystals have absorbed and the specific instructions are on the inside of each lid.  I just put the knobs in the oven and will post another photo when they are "done."

These are made in U.S.A. but there were similar ones made in England and I have seen one bread box like this.

A close up of the "Blue Magic crystals" in the knobs after "baking" in the oven.

I did a search on eBay and found a bunch - seen here.

P.S.  one is in Australia.

Hmm that might be a book to get for the missus, she does like her cakes and what not. Is the bagel recipe in there Lee?

Yikes, they want $67.50 for the one in Australia andie.  Great idea but that is rather expensive for a bikkie tin.

That's because not only is it "vintage" - it is "imported"   ;)

I bought one of mine new many years ago and found the red one at a Salvation Army store.

You can buy the food grade silica gel crystals and put some in the "fill them yourself" teabags - the kind you iron an edge to seal.

They really do keep the crackers and cookies, etc., crisp.
