Hally, I have both.  Have recently typed up from his first book what I want to make and have just started going through his new one.  Lots of lovely recipes in both.  I will get around to them at some stage.

Marina I empathise with you. After Borders closed down I decided I would set aside an amount of money each week and at the end of a month go and buy a book at Dymocks. They are often cheaper elsewhere but I listened to an author recently lament the loss of bookshops. I can think of nothing worse and I miss Borders as it was huge here. We have nothing else as the other bookstores are much smaller.
I realise you are not a book shop but I see people doing the same with cosmetics etc. I admit that I do buy ebooks too so I am not that good.

I find it sad to see shops closing too.  So much help and information lost!  We used to have a wonderful kids bookshop just down the road - an amazing selection of books, and the guy who owned it was amazing at helping.  I could tell him what age I was buying for and he'd show me plenty of different items that would suit that level.  I wish they were still there to help purchasing for DS.  I happily paid a little more than even the chain bookstores to get such wonderful service. 
We are lucky to still have a few unique shops nearby, but it's a strggle for them to keep afloat (the toy shop also disappeared after finding they couldn't compete with big chains and internet prices).

I am pretty pleased with myself, I have done 4 new recipes in the last 4 days. My goal is 2 per week.

I agree I love to buy locally, plug aussie  farmers again.  I much prefer the small shops & I try to buy what I can.

I went over to Meagan's place this morning and picked up a new brush, a new EDC and Cooking for Two. Meagan kindly threw in a calendar for me.

Thanks, Cookie, but I would just sound like a broken record.  I also get annoyed when people buy something cheap on the internet then come in to us expecting us to put right something that is, essentially, irrepairable - then we are the 'bad guys' for telling them the truth.  I guess most people, especially those in the cities, can see the effects of the internet.  For those of you out of town, I know it is a different story and understand, of course; the internet opens up a whole new shopping experience for you ... hopefully some of you will buy within Australia, it really does make a difference to small business.
