Great buying KimmyH, I'm still planning on purchasing one for DH for his birthday but might have a look if there is a cashback offer on.

I bought these silicone bowl covers from Howards Storage World. They are food grade plastic and freezer, oven and dishwasher-safe. I have been using them as an alternative to glad wrap and alfoil. They form a really good seal over the bowl (plastic, ceramic, glass and wood), and are great for keeping food fresh in the fridge, reheating things in the oven and also for covering dough as it rises. I love them! They come in different sizes.

I saw these on sale at Alyce Alexanders and thought they would be a good idea. It's nice to hear they work!

They look very handy. I use a heck of a lot of glad wrap. I will check them out. Thanks Karen.

Those that own the Philips pasta maker - can you use you own recipe?
For example, I have a gluten free recipe & was wondering if you think it would work.
The ingredients are
* 1 1/2 cups (7 1/2 ounces) brown rice flour, plus more for dusting
* 1/2 cup (2 ounces) tapioca starch
* 1 teaspoon xanthan gum
* 4 large eggs
* Kosher salt
Thanks in advance for any help.

The recipe book recommends that if you use your own recipe, you need to alter the flour and egg/water ratios to match those in the book, otherwise it will not be successful. I have noticed that the machine dough does feel a lot dryer than handmade dough.

I think it would if you did as Kimmy said and keep the ratios the same.

So I went down to The Good Guys to buy a new remote for my TV and as I passed buy the small kitchen appliances I spotted the last lonely Philips Pasta Maker on th shelf. It was so forlorn and a wee bit sad as it had a tiny bit of dried pasta stuck to if from the last demo. I was crooning to it when approached by the lovely sales guy who then sold it to me for..............$249less $50 cash back so all up $199. How could I not?
