Our only purchases lately have been fuel and the odd caravan park fees. I did have to buy some Polly styrofoam bread today. Not the best, but it will have to do until we get home.

The bread sounds appetising, Cookie!

Thanks for the dishwasher feedback
The saleswoman said "Once you have one Miele appliance, you'll want all your kitchen and laundry appliances to be Miele!"
And yes, I would, but there's zero chance of that due to cost!  ;D
That's true.  I got a Miele vacuum cleaner a couple of years ago and the first time I turned it on I actually had to put my hand against the end of the hose to make sure it was working because it was so quiet!

Now I just have to think about which model of dishwasher to get - the one I am looking at has the steel finish door which I think looks industrial and I would prefer white but my current preferred model is not available in white ... maybe I will end up looking at a different model, perhaps a semi-integrated one.

Marina, bit late to comment but we have had Asko machines for years. Love them. Dish washer and clothes washer.
We now have a Mieli at Invermay, excellent quality but unlike everyone else I don't like the cutlery tray. I also don't think it takes as many dishes as the Asko. Could be that I am used to the different configuration of the Asko.

I agree Chookie. I have an Asko washing machine and dishwasher. Mum has a Miele dishwasher, but I prefer my Asko. I prefer the internal configuration of the Asko.

I did mean to ask you about this on Saturday, Bess, but got side tracked!  Thanks to you both for your comments, off to look at the Asko site as well.

I got told similar, and it is so true :)
I have Miele washing machine, dryer and dishwasher ATM - we were unsure on the cost of our first item (dishwasher) and we were told (by other Miele owners) "buy once and cry once" .... as in once you had it you wouldn't have to replace it for a very long time.

Their customer service is wonderful too  ;D

More on the Miele.
The house at Invermay has a Meile gas range. Fantastic. The Wok burner wasn't working so had the service man recommended by Meile come out. It has taken 4 visits and had to be completely renovated.  Hate to think what the cost will be but a new Wok burner would be over $2000. I have used it and it is great.
As said, the service on the phone was very good although the wait was very long before I could speak to someone.

It looks like comments on here and reviews on the 'net come out equally with positive and negative reviews across all ranges.  It has left me somewhat confused but I have to make a decision soon so I will just have to take a leap of faith and keep my fingers crossed.  When I have finally made a decision and purchased one I'll let you know.
