Hello from London - New Owner !

Dear ALL

This is Mark writing from a gloomy day in London  - brightened up by waiting for delivery today of my Thermomix !!

Its something I have seen on countless UK cookery shows and I always wondered "what is that odd looking machine on the counter top ?"

After much research I identified the machine did some research and tracked down my local agent (who ironically lives only a few hundred yards from me in Canary Wharf !) my wife and I were blown away by the functionality and versatility of the TMX

Already planning what to have for supper later - looking to this forum to help me with any problems I might have and wonderful recipes for when I crawl home after work and want something amazing !

We brought the Australian recipe book as well - 1st on the list has to be frozen Margaritas ??

Hi Mark, welcome to the forum.  Love the name you have given yourself.   Love hearing stories like yours where you had to do a bit of detective work to find out what this machine was all about.  I believe many machines were sold in Australia from cooking shows where they made something very simple (without giving a plug to the product) - people were curious like you and had to have it.  I think you may be the first English gentleman on this forum, we have quite a few English roses though.

Good Morning and thanks to all of you for such a warm and effusive welcome, delighted to be among such a wonderful group TMX enthusiasts !!

rushed home last night and collected HUGE vorwerk box, unpacked it and stood back and sighed with great pleasure and excitement  - looks amazing on the counter top

We started off slow with a gimme as a 1st experiment  - (you guessed it ) sorbet !!

Frozen strawberries, slices of lime and Cinnamon sugar and  - hey presto, sorbet in 5 mins AND on a Tuesday after"skool" as well  - unbelievable - I am still terrified by the noise it makes doing this but seems as though the machine has the "grunt" to work through the crunching all OK ??

Tonight I have a pile of organic courgettes in the fridge so thought I would attempt to make a spicy tomato sauce in the TMX with some "sumac" and maybe some jerk sauce and then separately saute some sliced / chopped (?)  courgettes in the TMX and then chuck the sauce back in with the courgettes to cook until soft and "gloopy" and then serve under some oven roasted pork shoulder slices I have defrosting, I also have some dried crispy bacon that I was going to blitz up to sprinkle on top  - sounds feasible

Snorkychopper ?? - aahhh its long and forgotten story between my wonderful wife and I but its my standard ebay / forum name so I am stuck with as I brought the domain also !!

Mid July in London and it cold and dark  - came to work in a raincoat - madness !!

If you want to keep the shape of the courgette (zucchini here) Mark, I would suggest slicing it by hand and of course using the reverse button after adding the sauce back into the bowl.

Welcome, can relate to being frightened of the noise...you do get used to it,and for such a short time. I have had mine for a month and honestly dint know what I did before. Enjoy, I am sure you will.

Welcome Mark. I live not so very far from you in 'sunny' Bromley. I'm sure you're going to love your thermomix and wonder what you ever did without it.

My last introduction post here  - and again my sincere thanks to all for the friendly and helpful welcome...

TMX arrived Tuesday and has been used every day since  - last night made a Ragu sauce with what was in the fridge, assorted veggies + beef mince - we couldn't believe how QUICK it was and also considering how little went into it how FANTASTIC it tasted  - better than anything I would have made on the hob..

I only have one question does the VAROMA button JUST provide max heat and steam and if you dont want max heat and steam you just use the separate temp buttons - so you dont use VAROMA in tandem with the temp buttons ??

A genuinely life changing kitchen machine in my house  - cooking will never be the same again !

Hi Mark and Welcome. Sounds like you are getting quiet creative with the TM already. The Varoma button is just a higher Temperature and is used when cooking items in the basket like rice, potatoes etc, and steaming items in the varoma it self. Some recipes ask for varoma temp when cooking in the TM alone (No Varoma on top).
