I always do this lighter chicken soup when me or DD is not well Hally - quick and easy and if you don't like using packet chicken noodle soup mix you can just use some chicken stock powder and some broken up egg noodles in it's place.

Thanks faffa, only have veg stock in fridge atm

I must say i always thought chiili, garlic ,ginger would stave off colds.

Thursday night we had all the indian food which was pcked with the above and then had it friday, but didnt  seem to help. I think once its in your system you cant get rid of it, but hopefully hels with a speedy recovery.

My DH recently made us traditional chicken soup when the boys and I were all sick and struggling to get better.  He simmered chicken wings, necks, onions and carrots in a big pot on the stovetop  (removing the scum when it boiled initially) and added herbs in the last 30 minutes.  He strained it after 10 hours and made it into a simple soup. It was far better than anything we could have bought from the chemist and wasn't difficult to throw in the pot. Chicken stock or broth really is the best medicine - sadly not made in the thermie though as the bones need to simmer all day to release their goodness.

Hi chelsea,

I used to always make my soup like this, but now i have the tm  i dont, i must admit you cant beat the taste of bones cooked all day. I think this is a bit too hard for dh, but next week when i am better i m going to make some and freeze it, so its ready to go if anyone is sick acgain this winter.

Thanks to tm i have meals in the freezer for dh  and ds.

So glad i have my ipad with me in bed.

yes chicken soup is always good, and this one has just been posted and looks nice and easy. Looks to be easily digestible and would have lots of goodness.

I'd make some chicken stock by using veg stock concentrate and putting some chicken pieces in the basket.

Once you've got hot chicken stock and the pieces are cooked remove the basket, add a can of creamed corn, a blob of cream and the meat from the chicken pieces.  Heat to 100c on speed 4 for 3 minutes.  Add an egg and mix 10 sec speed 2.

Serve

Try again

Have jd's soup on the go. Found 1/2 litre of home made chicken stock in freezer, so this with1/2 litre of water and 2tbs veggie past, hopefully will do the trick.

Dh is feeling lethargic, thats how i was thursday, hoe he doesnt get it. He has just fallen asleep as i am typing.

Last time i thought i had a cold, the 3 of us were in phuket, i was sick, the dh, then ds, it turned out we all had SWINE flu, not much fun on holiday and not much fun at all..

Hope to be lots better tomorrow, mind very able, body NOT.

Thanks everyone, you are a great bunch of people
