Coffee - start to finish
« on: August 19, 2011, 11:46:41 pm »
Hi all, hoping someone can help - I've had a search and I can't find what I want...

I'm after the recipe for making proper coffee all in the tm from grinding the beans to frothing the milk.  A lady told me this is how she does it: grind x amount of beans; add water and heat; pour off into plunger/french press; rinse bowl and add milk and heat/froth; plunge coffee and pour; pour froth on top.

I can work out most of it except the quantity for beans and water and the speed and heat for that part.  The lady couldn't remember the quantities off hand and I'm too impatient to wait for her email lol.  I think she was given the recipe by a consultant.

Thanks in advance :)

hi krismakes
i love making coffees in the tm, i usually have a cappuccino and hubby has a long black.  this is how i do it.
grind coffee for 1 min spd 10.  you want to use around 10g of ground coffee for each serve.
add 150g water for each serve. set tm to heat to 80 degrees, spd 1 for a few minutes.  stop it once it reaches 80 degrees.
let the coffee sit in the bowl for 1  min.
pour coffee into plunger.
rinse tm. add milk i use about 150g each serve.  once again set tm to heat to 80 degrees spd 1. once it reaches 80 degrees, slowly increase speed to speed 8 and froth for about 20 sec, more if not frothy enough.  the milk froths better apparently if you leave the mc out.
then poor coffee into cup, then milk, then froth. yum
i got this guide for making coffee in tm from  janine babauskis but have altered it slightly to suit my taste.

you can put the steaming basket on top (which i forgot to mention) but otherwise you get a few small splashes, not to bad though :)
