I think it's the responsibility of the buyer to read carefully and I can't believe how much some people pay.

Your absolutely right there tasty.  It did state it was a cookbook, and luckily for that bidder, the seller has a conscience.
People do need to read descriptions thoroughly, but I'm sure the seller will now have clearer listings for future.

it is a crazy price !

but im going to go against the grain here and say that i think the listing clearly states that the listing is for the cookbook !!!

and im sorry but if u are bidding that kind of money and not reading listings propperly for what your bidding on it cant be made the resposibility of the seller !

You know there's another of the same cookbook listed for $150 at the Buy It Now price.  Item number: 290603161603
This person must have seen the othe auction and decided to quit their day job!

Interesting and the same title too. Did you read the description - Don't pay ridiculous prices make me a reasonable offer today. Ummm, isn't $150 a ridiculous price?!

How much does it cost to buy one of these by the way?

$30 I think.  I sent the seller a message asking why a $30 cookbook is listed for $150.
To me it's clearly a book, but true the title does not mention book.  But if you were buying a TMX, wouldn't you read all the details very carefully?  I'd like a holiday, might sell my EDC!!

It seems very strange that a Buy it now entry went up while this auction was going on with the same picture and description. A shame the birders aren't part of this forum

Its sold for over $500 !!!

The buyer has 100% bidding history with that seller so the buyer will either be a friend bidding it up or one very disappointed person when the book turns up without a machine attached !!

Cheeky - I think I could think of a few other words!!  They list the books with as little info as possible, set it so no-one can see the questions other "ebayers" have asked etc.  Its the same people listing these items over and over again, so to have that much Thermomix stock I think they are either consultants or former consultants (and if they are consultants they know exactly how much these books are worth and that they can be bought direct from Thermomix at the normal price).  EDC for $150.00 or $511.00!  Thermoserver for $260.00??  Profiteering for sure   :(

But I do agree with the other comments - buyer beware!

there is a warning on the french site about any vorwerk item on ebay and alot of them being fraudulent..if I remember think someone said the same exists on other vorwerk/thermomix websites...there have been alot of instances apparently where people pay stupid prices but dont get any item but some people are stupid too and easy to con...they really need to learn to do a bit of research!

Looks like the second book has sold - someone put in an offer of $58.50 and they buyer accepted. At least it was nowhere near the original $150 they were asking for.

I think part of this whole buying on Ebay is that people are gambling on getting "something for nothing" and they can't resist that, they think that they are getting a GENUINE bargain - although in this case it sounds as if it was a real set up to hike prices as high as possible and this practice is certainly well known in the world of auctions at large.

I have only ever purchased one item from Ebay, but I know several people who have been ripped off several times, yet they keep going back again and again and again.  If that happened in our shop, you may be sure they would think twice about ever coming back to us, yet they blindly shop on Ebay.  It's just the human psyche - and I simply don't understand it.  Perhaps they get caught up in the excitement of watching the bidding and don't fully realise the value of the item they are chasing.
