What was your pivotal Thermomix moment?
« on: August 25, 2011, 01:25:41 pm »
I decided to buy a Thermomix to save time.  My partner and I both work full time and have a 15yo daughter.  During the week, I like to come home, get tea organised and washing up done as quickly as possible - then to relax, especially in winter.

My pivotal moment came a few weeks ago after I had been out 6 nights in a row with a mixture of work, meetings and social stuff.

My partner who is very helpful in the kitchen was going to make spaghetti bolognaise, then contracted man flu, so it didn't happen.  Thus mince needed using.  Wednesday morning before work, I decided I would try lasagne (in Thermie) for the first time.

I was amazed at myself that Wednesday afternoon at work at was looking forward to going home and making it.  I did. It was light and delicious.  I had promised a guy I work with a piece for his lunch on Thursday.  That meant, by the time the three of us had two serves for tea, plus the promised piece, there were two serves left for Thursday night.

Driving home at 6pm from work Thursday night, knowing there were two serves left and three of us, if there had of been an argument about who was going to have something else (not lasagne), I would have happily made another batch from scratch again.

Never would I have contemplated making lasagne from scratch after work once, let alone two nights in a row.
That was my pivotal moment when I knew my life had changed. What was yours?

It's funny how the TMX makes so much possible.  Probably rather than saving me time I cook more!  For example when my inlaws visited recently I made 2 different pies--There is a family tradition that my sister in law likes apricot pie and my father in law apple, so I thought, why not and made both. Then, I made home made icecream AND custard!  Similarly tomorrow night my son is having the group he went hiking with come for a reunion at our house and I've made 3 batches of butter chicken--it was so easy to prepare the next lot while one was cooking, taka dahl, balti vegetable curry, coconut sorbet and mango kulfti and tomorrow night I'll whip up some naan bread.  Would never have contemplated this in the past . . . or if I did I would probably have had a nervous breakdown!  TMX makes it all possible and doable and even fun!

Hope you keep having pivotal TMX moments!

I found out at the last minute (well 4 hours prior) to presenting a TM coking class that I had to make the Torta Caprese – the flourless chocolate cake... as someone who does not eat sugar I do not bake, never have... so with only a few hours to go I followed the recipe to the letter and what turned out was so professional looking I could imagine it for sale in a bakers for $40! I was blown away and very proud! I rather raved about it to my audience at the class!
That was my pivotal moment!
