I just cannot believe it!!!!
« on: August 30, 2011, 08:40:27 pm »
I know that I really am preaching to the converted

BUT.......

I thought I was pretty savvy having literally thousands of dollars worth of Tupperware in my fridge, freezer, pantry, cupboards AND cellar.

I thought I was really clever by making food go a long way and not throwing things away and storing them correctly.

I cannot believe that I can make a Margarita Pizza on Sunday night, save half the sauce in Tupperware and then two days later mince and brown some meat in Thermie, pop in the left over tomato sauce and then create a Bolognaise sauce in next to no time at all.  All this after having whipped up the delicious Tuna Streudels moments before and then creating a cheesecake minutes after.

All this in less than one hour (plus baking times - you get my point!)

I had a ten plus hour day at work and I still wonder how on earth I was able to create all of this wonderful food so quickly and easily.  Ed couldn't believe his eyes when he walked in the door to all a dinner extraordinaire.

Tomorrow will be an even longer day so I know all I have to do is whip up a quick pizza base, spread on the Bolognaise sauce, add a few bits and bobs and dinner will be on the table in 30 minutes.  Amazing. Stupendous. Fabulous.  Wow!!!

Thank you Thermie.  You are making my life so much easier.

Your post made me even more giddy about my Thermie if that was even possible. I only had it since Saturday and I have not stopped using it. I am so glad I got two bowls straight away as I wouldn't have coped otheriwse. Your recipes sound fab as well I need to search for them. Enjoy your treat after the long day tomorrow  :)

What a story ... well done, Lee, you are certainly taking to the TMX "like a duck to water".  Ed is going to get thoroughly spoilt!

Lol. You sound extremely happy with your TM Lee. Sounds like you should of brought one years ago. And the best thing about the TM the amazement at what it can do dosnt wear off. I still can't believe how easy it makes everything after 8 months. I love opening the lid after I have chopped a whole heap of veggies in it and think WOW everytime.

Lee, I couldn't agree with you more! I made a raw dessert on Saturday - Fruity Raw Cheesecake and was just blown away by how quick and easy it was (and delicious!). And then last night I felt like something sweet so whipped up a batch of Chocolate Alternative from the Vegetarian book. And then it cleaned itself! I LOVE my Thermie too :-)

Lee, yours is a great story.  After pleading with us for ideas of how to get Ed to agree to the purchase, you have not looked back since he gave in and saw the machine in action for himself.  Has to go down as one of the great love stories of all times, you, Ed & the TMX

Oh Judy, you are so right.  A love story indeed.  This is how I see/hear it.

Picture this, the theme from Dynasty perhaps, or Falcon Crest....

I gaze at Thermie - and I hear Tara's Theme in the background.  Now the fog machine is puffs (or is it Varoma?), the camera would slightly lose focus, (perhaps I need to change contact lenses??) and I would run, slow motionon, towards Thermie, sweep him up into my arms, in a loving embrace (or perhaps I am now too fat after eating all this food to move swiftly around my kitchen anymore and forget to clean underneath him???)

PS Ed thinks I am mad, but I often hear "music" as I walk down our stairs.  I shouldn't have told him!!!

PPS If Ed is reading this, he is sure to comment!!!

PPPS IS there a doctor on the forum who might like to PM me???

Pity we don't have a video section where we can see you playing out this role Ed  :D :D :D  You are a crazy young man but I am enjoying your postings  & the joy and laughter in your life.  Life would never be dull in yours & Ed's house.

Hmmm, I'm not a Doctor  :-)), but my interpretation of your herculean TM efforts Lee is you are secretly hoping Ed is reading the thread, and will thank you for your fabulous TM creativity and surprise you by generously suggesting you order a second bowl set  ;D ?  Because if you can do all that with one, imagine what you could do with two?

Great to see the enthusiasm! Well done.
A great cook is one who can rustle up a fabulous family meal with some freezer burnt chops, wilted carrots, sprouting potatoes and cabbage that's gone brown on the cut edges.

Ha ha ha. Love the story Lee. You have a wonderful imagination. Next you will be strapping your TM into a pram and taking him for a walk with you.

Funny you should say that...

I have worked in education and food for many years.  My position is as Middle School Coordinator, an international school here in Frankfurt.  Fortunately, I still teach as well as administrate.  Anyway, I was teaching a Year 7 English class about "Factual" texts and naturally, recipes are a part of this broad topic.  To my horror, a good third of the class had NEVER cooked.

LEESMAC78 TO THE RESCUE........

Yesterday, we made Chocolate Brownies.  Being an international school, whilst the language of instruction is English, many of these students are not native English speakers.  I taught them about "creaming" butter and sugar, "folding" flour and how to use a little "muscle" to "beat" something.  They had the best time and learned many new things.

1.  Cooking is NOT impossible
2.  Cooking is FUN
3.  Cooking is SATISFYING
4.  Cooking is a superb SHARED activity to do with friends and family

My list could continue...

Whilst Food Technology is not strictly a part of the Year 7 curriculum, I think that for language and social development, food must be incorporated into their regular classroom routine.

Note to self:  Buy the TMX bag too, so I can transport Thermie to school, so that we can make more exciting things than Chocolate Brownies next time!!!
