Hi from Sydney
« on: September 09, 2011, 12:41:59 pm »
Hiya I'm Karen from Sydney. I'm a mama to two beautiful boys, my youngest who's just turned 1 and my big one who is nearly 4. Have recently bought my thermi as I've just found out that I have intolerances and allergies to wheat, yeast, dairy and maize.  :o :-[ my husband has been diagnosed as having issues with wheat and maize and on the 15th of sept we find out what allergies my big boy has. I'm feeling pretty overwhelmed by the whole thing. Quirky's blog has given me some hope at least. Looking forward to meeting you all.

Hi Karen, welcome to the forum.  Glad you've found Jo's blog and good luck with cooking for all your intolerance & allergy problems.  Others may be able to help you if you have any questions so feel free to ask on here if you need some advice.

Welcome to the forum Karen. Sounds like you have your hands full with dealing with allergies and intollerances. I'm sure the TM will make life easier for you and a lot cheaper cause we all know that products that have alternative ingredients in them for people with allergies and intollerances are more expensive than those with common ingredients. At least as you work out what you can substitute ingredients for you will be able to make your own foods with the help if your TM.
There are quiet a few members on here that have brought a TM for that reason and it makes life so much easier.
Good luck with it all and ask any questions you need to know as someone will certainly be able to help.

Well I'm back and it looks like our little man has coeliacs disease. The doctor is doing some more testing but she's pretty sure as his Iga levels came back really high. I'm feeling really overwhelmed by the whole thing, esp going out. Home I can deal with but the tantrums over wanting junk food, sweets etc are going to be colossal  :(

Sorry to hear that kitteen, it is going to be hard to manage when out as he is probably too young to understand reasoning.  Is there any help available to you as far as what is the best way to go about dealing with this problem, especially with children?  I wish you and your family well.

Oh no  :-\. I would expect it would be overwhelming for a while until you get to understand what foods to avoid. Poor you. I wish you lots of luck .
