What a wonderful story Nik - you must have been sick of the sight of pies by the end of that session.

Ah yes JD I was, but it was worth the effort and getting together with my Mum and her friend and trying different fillings was great.
Mum's friend did quite exotic fillings and they were delish. So we have gourmet pies - yummy!

Ok let's talk pastry :) I used home made shortcrust for the base and either organic butter puff or butter puff by pampas. Maybe it is the pastry!

Nik good job it is good when you have things made already in the freezer, you would have been exhausted after making that many.

Meagan I buy my pastry short for the bottom and puff for the top, maybe if your pastry is homemade it needs to been all exactly rolled out the same which is hard to do with homemade. Judy makes her pastry though

I just use pamaps puff pastry for top and bottom of my pies. When making 300 odd we figured we didn't have time to fluff around with different sorts!
We rolled the scraps out and used them for the tops so there was no waste. (used the bottom cutter to cut pastry for the tops so when they do shrink they still fit - if that makes sense!)

Plus in my house - if you don't like it - don't eat it. Ain't nothin' else!  ;D

I am now the proud owner of a bright pink Babycakes appliance.
I've taken it out of the box but have not yet decided on what to attempt as my first project.

Tomorrow will be soon enough to take it for its maiden flight.

My friend brought it over after work and we got into a discussion about old movies from the 1930s and the time just flew by.

Ed always gets nervous when I am on this forum.  Just in case I come up with any other brilliant ideas....  He still lets me shop though.  Lucky I am on holidays and he is at work.  Gives me time to hide my purchases around the house.
