Just had Miss 3s late birthday present delivered - a mini pie/muffin/cupcake/mini quiche maker!!  :D
Yes I know she is only 3 but it is the only thing I could think of for my mum to get her - and she had thought of the same thing herself... ;D
Think self, miss 5 and miss 3 will all enjoy it - and I love it that my girls love to learn to cook.  :)
AND I am very pleased as I just worked out 2-3 of this size pies will fit into the girls' food Thermoses. Happy about that.  :D
:D

That sounds like a great present Astarra! What a lucky Miss 3 :D
I'm sure you'll all have fun with it in the kitchen. And a great way to encourage the girls to cook (though it doesn't sound like they need much encouragement!) ;D

They both love to 'help' in the kitchen!! And eat even better if they have 'made it' !! I love cooking with them as it is spending time with them, they love it and we all get the end result!! A win-win situation all round!!  :D

DH just whizzed up the leftover chicken, stuffing, chips, veg and gravy from tonights tea - in TM (uh oh, no stopping him now!!  ;) ) and made some mini pies with it - they are yum!  :)

I've heard that getting children to help in the kitchen makes them eat better. Its something I'm determined to do when I have kids! ;) :D
I think its also important for them to see how foods come in its original form, like showing them how the potatoes become mash or how an apple is cored and sliced to make it easier to eat. I heard a story of a young child who was given a banana at preschool and didn't know what to do with it because his mum had always peeled them for him :o

Those pies that DH made certainly sound yummy :D

That's what I try to do with DS - get him involved in the hope that he'll be more inclined to eat the food we make. That and I want him to be able to cook a nutritious meal for himself, unlike his father who lives on peanut butter sandwiches or takeaway. Now when I'm cooking DS tells me he wants to cook too. Love it!

Oh gosh Amanda, that sounds like my father :o

Glad DS wants to cook! Is it easy to teach him how to clean up as well? :-))

Not so much yet... He's only 2 and he can't reach the bench yet. He has to sit on the bench to help, and he pushes the scale reset button for me. He licks the bowl, so I guess that's kind of belong me clean up... Lol. He helps me clean up the rest of the house, though.

I'll take a photo of him helping me when his face clears up - he has some nasty eczema around his mouth at the moment that nothing seems to be correcting so I think we're about to add ANOTHER specialist to his list of doctors. He also has a massive bruise on his nose / under his eye where he fell out of my bed the other morning. I don't like taking photos of him when his eczema's flaring because I know I wouldn't want photos taken of me like that.

What a lovely photo. That is the one thing my DS hates about thermie. No beaters to lick. He does get to lick the spatula though.
Exercise is a dirty word... Every time I hear it, I wash my mouth out with chocolate
