Hi all

My vego teenage son has discovered "deli" style yogurt and is currently plowing his way through about $40 per week of the stuff (he demolishes a "4 serving" tub of Gippsland or TAmar valley yogurt in one sitting).  I am wrapped to see him eating yogurt as a protein source, but cannot seem to buy enough of the stuff, so I am determined to spend the upcoming school holidays mastering yogurt making.  I haven't tried it before but I am bouyed by Hally and Dede's recend success!  I have been reading about CADA and think that he may like this as an addition to his yogurt, but I'm wondering if it is possible to store it so I could make it in advance.  I'm thinking probably not with the apple in it, but thought some of you may have found a solution by maybe using lemon juice or something.  Thanks

Havent stored CADA as yet.

If you follow instructions for yoghurt making it was easy. :)

I am sure you can make it.

I only make CADA for me so I don't make masses.I see Cuilidh makes a weeks worth at a time so maybe Marina can answer your question.

Yes, CC, I make it at the weekends then put it in a jar in the fridge and we work our way through it each week.  We love it.  I just made our weekly batch yesterday morning and the quantities I used were:

300 gm pitted dates
300 gm blanched almonds
I can't quite remember the coconut, but definitely less in weight than the dates and almonds.  Also put a handful or so of cranberries in, just for fun.  Turbo for 3 - 5 seconds.

I make it in two batches so that everything is chopped up as we like it.  If the bowl is too full I find it a bit more difficult to control the coarseness or fineness of the end product - but that is just me.  Experimentation is the key, Lellyj.  This is great with yoghurt, although my DH just adds an apple and blueberries and is quite content.

What is the consistency?  Does it come together in 1 big lump or a paste, or does it just get chopped up and stay crumbly?

we love, love, love CADA !! It is particularly nice with macadamias instead of almonds for a change. I usually also add to the basic mix, some cinnamon and chia seeds (for health benefits) and a good squeeze of lemon juice. I have kept it 2-3 days in fridge with no worries .... I like it for brekky and kids eat the leftovers as a snack after school.
hope he slows down on the yoghurt before you have to remortgage the house !!!!   :o

I made my yoghurt using the Tamar Valley plain yoghurt Leelyj, Its made using live cultures and worked well.
Oh the CADA looks yummy  :P

Thanks Sonan for the CADA storage tip and macademia suggestion and Dede for the advice about Tamar Valley--thats good to know, as I know I can get that here.  Yes, mastering yogurt and playing with CADA are definitely on the agenda for school holidays (one more day to go!), should save me some money if I can get it right!!

I love cada with the removal of apple and the addition of frozen mango cheeks…I guess that makes it CAMD?? Or DAMC…it is so incredible, tastes like icecream treat of some description and was purely accidental…no apple, had mango, made DAMC!

It is so quick to make, I dont store it…FYI.

DAMC sounds absolutely gorgeous, Tenina.  The reason I make it in weekly bulk is that I can only use my TMX on the weekends (we live in a tiny apartment in the city during the week with minimal bench space) so I look forward to TMX overdoses each weekend and make enough CADA to last the week because we both love it and don't want to do without it.
