That's bad Uni, i am worried as i have planned to purchase 2 for gifts.  A wedding and my DS and GF birthdays.  I have been so impressed with mine but if they arent reliable...
BZB, i hope their arent any issues with yours being replaced.  Please keep us informed.
That is a high rate of problems here on the forum.  I guess we all use them alot being cooks but its scary.

Mine is 1335 L1, phew I was glad to read that.  Thanks Uni and I hope you can sort something out soon to get a good one as they are a wonderful little machine.

Mine is 1335 L1. Like yours, Judy. Keep an eye on your AF.

Was really hard to see the teensy weensy letters. Needed a magnifier app on my phone 😁

Whilst looking at the bottom, I saw that it was made in Poland 😕

My number is 1336 L1.   I use mine a lot but mostly for small/ short cooking, under 10 minutes, mostly at 200.

I will thanks BZB.  I doubt I use mine anywhere near as much as you do and today was the first time I had the faintest hint of smoke whilst cooking sprayed potato gems.  I'll clean the element and pop the tray and basket into the dishwasher next time I use it, I usually wash it by hand.

My (replaced) airfryer is a 1336 like Chookies. So far I've only roasted two chickens and haven't noticed tbe smoke to be too bad (yet). Do you think it might be worth trying different types of oils with higher smoking points?

I don't have an air fryer although I definitely would try rice bran oil etc - it may make the difference.
That's a really good call Jamberie.  :)

I use Rice Bran oil.  The only time it has smoked was when I cooked a chicken.

Judy, no need to spray potato gems.  They cook great without.
