we brought the complete  kitchen 2nd hand  15 years ago it cost us $1000
we got the house built  to  lock up stage and organized everything else ourselves
it come from a huge house and half the cupboards did not fit in our kitchen so we put them in the laundry
we also had to cut the pantry door down as it was the size of a house door
you should of seen there pantry it was huge walk in one
we have since brought the gas cook top
and now the oven is playing up and will need to soon get a new one
l dont like the corner pantry as  stuff get stuck in the back deep corner  and you need to move stuff to get other stuff out
but l am in the process of trying to work out the best way to deal with that
l would love a walk in pantry or a flat wall one
actually l would love a bigger house on some bigger  land like 5 acres

I love all the avatars, you all look so gorgeous.
I certainly have 'silver' in my hair. Mainly at the front, I inherited that from my Dad. I was going to say you could see it on my holiday photos but after checking I see I have a hat on in all of them.
The kitchens are certainly varied. I thought I would have heaps of space when we built this but now find I need even more. :-)) I'm sure it's all the fault of the TMX. ;) ;)

ok so it worked, as I had to re size the photos.
It shows my 2 counters, and a little nook for extra baking on the side.

I have just written a lovely response to Nay Nay, Andie and CP63 and for the second time today it has not posted into the forum - very frustrating.  So, instead of trying to re-write everything, I'll just say thanks for your help re. mosquitoes everyone (and I had some good comments re. solar panels for you, Andie, as well, but they are lost in the ether somewhere!).

Sorry, I just realised I posted this in the wrong thread, which is why I couldn't find it when I went to check that it was OK!!

Love that oven too Nay Nay! I had a wood stove in our first house that looked similar.

I can't believe that this was 9 pages last week, then I went away for a few days to my sister's and it's now up to 21!!

Gorgeous hair, faces, kitchens and kids.

Johnro - yes, I'm a teacher, but only do relief now. I'm a city girl moved to the country and wouldn't have it any other way!!

Nazar, I see you're in SW WA. I'm in the Great Southern, so not far away. My son's in Albany.

Who would have thought that an electrical appliance (well, not just any electrical appliance!) would bring so many people together in one place?
A great cook is one who can rustle up a fabulous family meal with some freezer burnt chops, wilted carrots, sprouting potatoes and cabbage that's gone brown on the cut edges.

I've got two "portable" induction burners  for use when I have a class and need more burners than are easily reached on the range.

They are fairly inexpensive here and work well with flat-bottomed cast iron pans, most of the All Clad pans (it's easy to check a pan, if a magnet will stick to it, it will work on an induction burner).
The response time is more rapid than gas burners and most electric burners.  The pan cools rapidly when the heat is reduced, except for cast iron.
The burner itself does not get hot, only the pan.
When I got my first one, the demo guy had a skillet cut in half and put a raw egg half on the pan and the other half on the bare burner.  The half on the pan cooked but the half on the burner did not.  I was very impressed!

I often use one at the table for anything that needs to be cooked and served immediately (crepes Suzette, for instance) or is traditionally cooked at the table (sukiyaki, filled omelets for dinner, etc.) or requires being kept hot or warm.  I use my enameled cast iron with flat bottoms - the ones with raised "rings" on the bottom won't work.

Many cookware lines have come out with lines specifically for Induction cooking and have a letter "I" to designate it.
And Max Burton makes (and sells with one of the MB induction burners) an induction disk that allows the use of other cookware, glass stovetop cookware, copper and aluminum cookware.
