Oddly it's not our smallest kitchen, that was in a flat in Brighton and was 1m by 1m, usable space was less when you had a sink on one side and a table with a microwave and a cooker on the other side. There was literally a foot wide between units to walk. Largest we ever had was another flat in Goring By Sea  that was a spacious 3m by 3m with a pantry (which we have here too) though badly laid out with little usable surface.

Similar here, that one side is the only usable bit which can get tricky when baking and needing to use the cooker hob too, then it's a game of what can I make disappear and "oh how many things can I balance on the ikea steps"

l visited your blog and saw your pantry  and heard about your vintage
collection l had thought they would of been on display

l have taken photos of my kitchen and will try to load them soon

Before my kitchen remodel and expansion, I used to have many of my vintage things on display.  However, for many years my new kitchen was certified for commercial use (for catering and contract baking) and the health dept frowns on things that can't be easily sterilized.  I no longer have the certification but I do occasionally teach, on a volunteer basis, young women how to cook and bake.

Also I don't keep the old appliances out because I have learned that flour and other substances floating around in a kitchen can be difficult to remove from all the nooks and crannies on vintage appliances so most of them are protected in cabinets. 
I have a cleaning crew (Merry Maids) that comes every two weeks and they go through the entire house and would have to put on an additional crew member if I had all those things out to dust and clean.  They run on a tight schedule and have so many clients that I don't want to give them any excuse for dropping me.

lovely to see you Carine and congrats on the first baby goat and milking experience...never milked a goat but we used to own a cow we used to have and milked her daily..loved it ...unfortunately my kids dont have a clue !!

Thanks Frozzie.  My 10 year old is in training.  He comes milking every evening to get a few squirts of milk, but he's getting better every day AND he loves it    I enjoy it too. I milk twice a day- not something I would have had a chance to do when I was living in my small flat in France.

Wow! I've only been off one day and this thread has taken off by 6 pages!!!

It doesn't take that much Nay-nay, a 0.5 clipper job once a fortnight and a dye touch up about the same.

Every 2 weeks! Ceejay that is alot of upkeep to me!

Gini I love the splash of colour and corrugated wall in your kitchen.
Yvette love all angles of your timber kitchen - some lovely BIG fridges too in these kitchen - I got mine about 2months ago. I don't mind telling everyone off ebay (2nd hand)for a steal -$650!!! Bosch and made in Australia with a ice and water dispenser - my hubby only took 1 month to plumb in (that's lightning speed for him) - very exciting to have so much ice on demand and don't have to buy and keep bags in the freezer for sorbets. 
Tararsis even with a small kitchen I'm sure it is very functionable and had a real boost when Thermie arrived.
Love the 'can't afford gold so have silver streaks' comment - will have to remember that! Will have to show you how long my DD hair is.

Nice addition with the kidlets Nazar and like Nay, the first thing I look for is the TMX - it is the star of all our kitchen photos. Loving the variation in styles of kitchens - big, small, timber, white, you name it and we are seeing it here on this thread.

Frozzie - ah now I can see you better, the last photo was a bit small for me.  You will have to keep updating it as you let it grow longer for your DH.

that makes sense to keep them in a cabinet to be on display and lets face it who likes to dust anyway
and l can understand you wanting to keep it clutter free for the cleaner as l would not want to be dropped either
it wonderful that you teach young girls you sound very knowledgeable

Well, my forum name is quite un-original.... my name is Kellie, and when I was little I always wanted wanted people to call me Red (instead they called me Carrot-top, Ginger Meggs and anything else that would annoy me!) The odd thing is that my hair has never been that red, more a strawberry blonde, and even that has faded now    Still, if I need an internet name I always seem to go back to Red Kell  
I'm not a fan of my kitchen, its a rental, so I cant really do anything to it. It always feels messy (I am a VERY messy cook  ) I'll put some photos up after I next clean it......might be a while
