What a fabulous kitchen, Chookie - Tarasis will be really, really jealous!     Yes , but he has lived in such interesting places.

This may not be practical, but if you are having trouble with sun fade, etc. there are films you can get to put on your windows to stop so much UV light getting in.
We have special blinds wihich respond to the sun,  but just the general amount of light seems to fade water colours and prints.  Don't think the film would suit.

Wonder, we bought this painting at auction.  It is one of the few paintings that DH and I both love.  We have very different tastes in art.

Chookie I agree with you about the kitchen pics telling us about the owner, it would have been interesting to do a mix and match with the pics/owners.  Your kitchen speaks volumes of your busy and unrelenting need to produce volumes.  The protea from your garden is glorious.
I never tire of the view form our kitchen/dining/family and back deck - at anytime even today when the skies are cloudy (besides I wanted the UK lovelies to feel at home)  :D  :D we feel blessed.  A foggy morning produces almost a mystical quality!  :D   :D

3 of the pics are taken form the kitchen sink while the other is standing at the end of the bench near dining room - we have sliding doors from both dining area and kitchen leading onto the back deck!!!

There are many different grades of UV film - The Getty Museum in L.A. not only has UV film on its windows, the Getty Foundation supported experimentation in the development of better protection.

Most of the high rise apartments in the more affluent areas in SoCal have UV film to protect the interior contents.

It also protects against glass shattering.

Well, lets see if this is working.
I am one of only a few that does put Thermie away, only behind a roller door and it is very easy to access.
Out of our window I have miniture fruit trees in pots, had a lot of success with my blood orange last year and also the lime and lemon.  I now have 2 apples, a peach nectarine dual graft, avocado, pear and blueberry. We moved here from 1/2 acre and it pleases me to still be productive.  Although we have a very small block we live opposite a large nature reserve.
I have plenty of storage space as we have high ceilings and the cupboards go all the way up, but not enough bench space, specially when I have my 2 daughters helping.

Fungi, not in front of windows but along the side there is.
Nazar, yes my pool is heated. Funnily I didn't think I would use it,we put it in for the kids. It is solar heated and we have it so warm I use it the most.
CP, those miniature fruit trees are prolific but take a few years before they produce. Made lots of lemon curd , but no fruit salad.
Thank goodness I can at last post a photo. Yay!
