Whew! Catching up on this thread. Lovely kitchens and did I spy a hot tub out back Lisa? I'd love one instead of our swimming pool.
Gorgeous sunsets Robyn. We get them here too, but they're more spectacular in early Autumn.

A great cook is one who can rustle up a fabulous family meal with some freezer burnt chops, wilted carrots, sprouting potatoes and cabbage that's gone brown on the cut edges.

It's great that you still appreciate them on a daily basis Robyn. I knew a lady whose western facing house overlooked the ocean and she would pull the blinds down before the sun set - something I could never have done. We once met a couple from the Central Coast in NSW on a cruise and they soon learned how much we both loved watching the sun set - for DH's 60th she sent down a painting she did when she was younger of a gorgeous sun set which we both treasure.

We feel blessed Judy with our outlook from home - while we face due north, the back deck extends the length of the family room, kitchen and dining room with glass doors opening from the kitchen and dining room

Beautiful Robyn. When we travel I seem to take so many photos of sunsets (and very occasionally sunrises) in the northern half of Australia.

Hi all - loved 'meeting' you all and reading all 50!! pages of this thread over the last couple of days, with the changes of topic along the way
I usually choose a forum name that is relevant to the type of forum I am on but I am thinking of changing it but can't think of what else to use.
I love your beautiful kitchens - I can't believe how big some of them are and I would love the luxury of bench space which is at a premium in my small kitchen atm. One part has been taken over with baby bottles and the only other part left now occupies the TMX. They say the TMX is good for small kitchens, which it is but I have no bench space now. Will get around to posting a kitchen photo soon so you know what I mean. I might even decide to post a photo of myself one of these days.

Well here it is! My small kitchen with limited bench space - as shown in second photo.
The bench space in front of kitchen is devoted to baby bottles, formula, etc.
I have a little pantry but I like to keep that well organised but will declutter the top shelf by removing magazines I have not used and cookbooks too.
I can't wait to have a bigger kitchen but this will do for now. Oh and unlike many of you. I have an ungly tall brown wall to look out too.

You are a bit short of working space aren't you Tasty. What about one of those over the sink chopping boards or have you room for a kitchen trolley/butcher's block on wheels - Ikea have different sizes for reasonable prices.

Not sure if u own home or rent, u could add some self where your clocks is and have a cabinet from the ceiling made just over where the baby bottles are

JD - yes certainly short of work space but I manage. If I need more I usually use the kitchen table in the meals area in front of kitchen.
Fundj - I own the home however I am not too keen om extra cupboards, shelves but rather bench space and everything that is already there needs to be there rather than in a cupboard.

Tasty, my first kitchen was tiny (2m by 1.5m!!!) - back when I was living in France and at uni- but it didn't stop me from cooking! Actually remember quite a few good parties
One of my grand-mothers had a small kitchen for 40+ years and produced lovely dishes day after day. And, yes , the kitchen table was used for pastry or other food prep.
Bench space is a luxury! In Australia I don't think that people always appreciate the amount of space they have...
