Vorwerk Tiger and Kobold
« on: October 12, 2011, 07:17:05 pm »
Hi loves,

I know I am opening up an enormous can of wormies here but does anyone have a Vorwerk vacuum cleaner?  Whilst I was at the service centre I clapped eyes on literally the Thermomix of vacuum clearners.

http://kobold.vorwerk.com/de/tiger-angebotswochen/home/

This site is all in German but don't they look fabulous.  Evidently, as consultants here we get a discount on them.  They are kind of expensive but still a hell of a lot cheaper than Thermomix himself.

Any opinions? Thoughts?  I might organize a vacuum party.  Hopefully they will clean up all the mess that Thermie makes...

It's not quite as "cute" as the Dyson vacuums.  I am really partial to their futuristic look.

This house came with a built-in system and until it dies, I can't justify buying a new one.

No though we did have someone come round the door to see if we were interested in one. It was of course at the wrong point, maybe some day we'll have a demo (we also had someone come and do a demo of the Thermomix of Stream Cleaners, seriously impressive piece of kit that, like the Vorwek vacumn, cost more than the Thermomix ( double the price and a bit). If the Steamer salesman hadn't been so pushy and wanted an answer that night we probably would have got one (don'tcha just hate the "car salesman" patter of "buy it tonight and get a XX% discount that if you pass on tonight you'll never get again)

What I was surprised to discover, after our basement got flooded a couple of months back, was that we have Vorwerk Carpet!

It works great but the hose is a bit heavy for me to drag around.  There are hidden "outlets" for it to connect to and the big canister is in a little room on the back of the house and it is too difficult for me to empty so it gets done when my yard man has time.

For two story homes they are wonderful but my home is all on one level and spread out a lot.
My kitchen is an addition on to the original house so there is no connection to the central vac in it but a lightweight "stick" vacuum picks up most spills and I have an iRobot Scooba that does most of the cleaning automatically.

Detective Leesmac78 reporting...

I have been googling around again.  Remember I reported a few days ago about the Vorkerk vacuum cleaner?

http://kobold.vorwerk.com/de/tiger-angebotswochen/aktions-sets/einsteiger-set/

Well, I remembered that Lux and Vorwerk had a connection.... Here it is everyone.  It is rebranded but very much available in Australia.

Are these machines indentical?  Absolutely! Someone, please find out the price of these.  In Germany, the vacuum is cheaper than Thermomix, I wonder if it is the same story in Australia...

Here's one for sale from a deceased estate, it cost $2095 in Feb 2010, selling for $600 neg.  New ones obviously they encourage you to have an in-home demo like the TMX.

We can get vorwerk vacuums in Oz: vorwerk.com.au. I was under the impression that they were about $3000, but I don't remember where I might have heard that.

Hi Lee,

I was searching for feedback on the Vorwerk Tiger vacuum cleaner and found your thread. Did you ever buy one? I'm seriously thinking about getting one. I'm in Switzerland, and there's a great offer on both models for Thermomix consultants at the moment. Probably way more than you pay in Germany, but then most things including the TM are more expensive here!

I have a cheap ($200) LG upright and it has lasted over 8 years now. The secret is whenever hubby empties it, he gives it a blast with the air compressor.

I can't imagine spending so much on a vac. As much as I love thermie, a vac worth tht much would have to work itself, self clean, make beds, dust and pick up DH toys  ;D

I've never seen one but I've heard about them.  I was once on a TM cooking course with 2 ladies who had them. They'd had  them for several years before they heard about thermomix.  As soon as they heard they were made by the same company they each bought one, thinking that if they were a patch on the vacuum then they must be excellent.  I've also been told that the easiest thermomix sale of all is to anyone who has one of these vacuums. The moment they hear that they're made by vorwerk they buy one.

So I guess that they must be good, hey?
As my picture shows, I've suddenly become younger :-)  DD was of the opinion that her picture should be here, not mine!

I looked into the Cobold in Australia last year and the distributor who lives down south provided me with a brochure and price. I couldn't see one demonstrated though. From memory is was around the high $2000 or low $3000. Cheaper than a Rainbow but more expensive than a dyson. The Colbold sill uses bags and we were really after a bagless that was light enough and easy enough to use everyday.

Ooo me too jd lol... Doesnt count at the moment but when he is all up and better ... My dh even asks me where things go so goes to show how much hedoes around the house lol

My parents had a rainbow but its only useful if you have carpet which they no longer had but it was always impressive how much gunk it got out of the floors even though the house was very regularly cleaned
