Vorwerk - the company
« on: October 14, 2011, 06:03:45 pm »
I have been spending my holidays as you all know thermomixing myself into a frenzy.  I had two friends of today, a couple, one of which is British and the other German. Sarah clapped eyes on my bench top to see the Thermie Twins and shrieked with excitement,  she now wants one on her bridal list.  No problem, as I can sort that  out no problem.  Carsten, however, remarked on the Vorwerk brand.  He ooed and aaahred about Vorwerk saying that his parents have owned a vacuum cleaner for more than thirty years and it is as good as the day they bought it. He also said there are German brands like Miele and mercedes and then there is Vorwerk.  He indicated that it is simply the best German brand that is so well known here for its quality and durability and stands the test of time.

Interesting and pleasing all at the same time.  I will be using this statement in my demos.  But until morae recently, I had never really heard of Vorwerk, which is a pity that something so wonderful doesn't get the publicity it deserves.  Oh well.

Must admit I had never heard of the name Vorwerk pre-Thermie either Lee.  Don't know if there are any of their other products on the market here in Australia.

It is just nice to own a quality product that is so useful.  Yesterday I made the best chocolate chip cookies from my new German baking book, cream of chicken soup, hungarian goulash, bread rolls, a salmon quiche, a yummy salad and something else, can't remember what else.  My grandmother is worried that I am not resting on my holidays but I tell her over and over again with Thermomix I am resting and having a wonderful time. I can't wait to be hungry again!

Wow lee, did well. Shame we can't purchase translated German books, suppose we wouldn't be able to access all the ingredients.

The only ingredients that would be hard to find are the many extra dairy ones we have here like quark, schmand and other funny things.  I will post my choc chip cookie recipe as it is super.

We can get Quark here Lee, not everywhere but it is certainly much easier to find nowadays.  I've even used it myself  ;D ;D

You know, all my friends who have a Vorwerk vacuum cleaner have bought the Thermomix without any hesitation at all - amazing, isn't it that the brand is known for its reliability so much so that people will buy just based on the brand alone.

since I moved out of home 30 years ago I cannot keep count of the many vacume cleaners I have purchased. hate buying these items and then throwing them out a couple of years later. The most we have spent is about $500 but its a waste of money when they cark it. such a shame that maybe we couldn't purchase other vorwerk products from TM HO here in Aus if the brand is known to be trustworthy elsewhere.

I had a Dyson vacuum cleaner for years but when it died I bought a upright Sebo. The only fault with it, it falls down when I have the extension hose out to it's full length.Drives me insane. :-))

I hate them too.  I have a Hoover upright which is good but doesn't get into corners or under low furniture and a Dyson that gets everywhere but I crash into everything when I pull it around.  I once went looking for one to carry on my back as I thought that would be ideal but the salesperson told me it would be too heavy for me.  Maybe the ducted system would be perfect for me but too late in life for me now.

When we got married we were given an Electrolux vac. cleaner - one of the cylinder types (for want of a better word) and it was fabulous.  It just lasted and lasted for years but finally died a death after about 25 years.  Since then it was a succession of useless ones of various brands.  We got a Dyson several years ago and it is very good, but it's strange shape makes it difficult to get under low furniture, etc., which is frustrating.  It's an upright model and I had never had an upright before, I don't think I would get one again, though.

I have a friend in Sydney and I am 99% sure that her company has imported  the Vorwerk Vacuum cleaners for many many years ( they used to do the Tm 21 too ) So as far as I know ther are available in Australia.
