Chocolate Ice Cream
« on: October 15, 2011, 02:12:41 pm »
I decided to make chocolate ice cream with this warm weather we're having. The first time I attempted this I forgot to put the cream in so it tasted very rich - whoops!

I used the recipe from tenina.com as it had ingredients I already had at home and you don't need an ice cream maker.

This recipe is very simple and tastes delicious. The dark chocolate is fine too - I thought I would need milk chocolate but it's sweet enough as it is and so so yummy! Makes almost 2L.

Yes that's the one JD.

I saw JulieO's one but you need an ice cream maker for that and i don't have one.

I might try containergirls recipe too one day.

tasty you dont need an icecream maker....i have made this recipe and you just make it up then put in icecube trays then remix once frozen although i found it quite rich in flavour...Saying htat im not a lover of choc icecream.. for any icecream you dont NEED an icecream make just some prefer it as it airates the mixture while freezing...you can get a similar effect by freezing then remixing until desired consistency in the thermomix..

I thought I also linked this with my favourites list (let me know if its not linking). This recipe is seriously good and I can't wait to see what Tenina's book has in it.

Thanks Judy. That's very exciting. I do hope she has a big print for them as I think they will sell very well.

Regarding Tenina's recipe, I'm very puzzled. The hints and tips for the TMX warn that  you shouldn't go above speed 4 with the butterfly as it could come off and damage the bowl.

They say:
Quote
Once the butterfly is inserted you MUST NOT go over speed 4 - otherwise the butterfly may come off and get damaged in the bowl.

Yet the recipe doesn't have you remove the butterfly before you cook the mix for 5 minutes at speed 5 and later it talks about beating it at speed 9 for 30 seconds. Given the warning surely not with the butterfly in there?

Help.

only use the butterfly for that step tarasis so take it out before adding the rest of the ingredients...the number one rules is always like you mentioned never over speed 4 for the butterfly so if in doubt or over speed 4 take it out..
