What things have you bought because of Thermie?
« on: October 21, 2011, 12:41:24 am »
Just interested. After my purchase I was whiz zing up so much we had to go get an extra freezer, then I had to have a second bowl and now a dehydrator to make my own savory seasonings in Thermie plus dried tomatoes because we all love the capsicum tomato dip, which requires sundried tomatoes. Bought sun dried are in questionable oils IMHO!  That's not even including the bread tins, recipe books, mags and all sorts of items I've not remembered.......  On the plus side - my dh says that our outgoing rubbish has gone down by more than half because we are not buying prepackaged and my weekly shopping bill is around $100 less!  Havent bought bread in the nearly 4 months I've been an owner.  Oh and it's such a lot of fun playing with these things. :)

A second bowl and that's it. If we include food then I've bought a few new ingredients.  Shrimp paste, candle nuts and spelt grain come to mind...

I don't think anyone can be a serious member of this forum and NOT buy extra things. I have bought a heart shaped cake tin, mini muffin tins, madeleine trays, pipe loaf tin, 2 loaf tins, muffin top trays, second bowl, pie maker, vacuum sealer, food thermos and lots of recipe books and ingredients never used before.  I have been given a silpat mat, pudding mould, re-usable tray liners, jam funnel and I'm sure there are other things I have missed.  They all go hand in hand with the Thermomix so I don't have a problem with increasing my cookware collection. It is a bit like having a hobby - the TMX is my hobby.

Oops, forgot the pasta maker and liquid soap dispenser - thanks fundj.  I'm sure there are more things along the way too.
Yes, just remembered - an apple peeler.

Judy it is so true when you say TMX is your hobby. Between the forum and the machine we are kept rather busy.
I've bought Too much.
Cookbooks that go with the machine, mat etc. Special spatulas, muffin top tins. more bread tins, icecream maker, second bowl, lots of new flours and similar things, indian spices, madeleine tray, and probably numerous other things I can't remember.
May all dairy items in your fridge be of questionable vintage.

I had an ice cream machine (2 actually) and sold one after getting my TM. Do you prefer the ice cream machines compared to the TM?  I have been making the egg custard base and freezing and using TM to mix up. Sometimes I mix sorbet mixture in too.

I have bought extra tins, cookbooks and gadgets since being part of the forum but have loved everything that I have used.I still want to "invest" in a vacuum sealer and pie maker seeing that everyone has had good results with theirs.Best thing ever, is you guys  :-* :-*

Re: What things have you bought because of Thermie - this forum? This topic is far more appropriate for me, I have always been a collector of everything baking/kitchen/etc, but I have discovered and purchased so many things directly and indirectly as a result of searching on the web for the item mentioned in a post - so thank you Maddy  :-))  :-)) oops bit of a typo there  :o  ALL   :D  :D I can't count the number of times friends and family say where did you find out about that - silly question!!- from the font of all wisdom of course aka the forum!!!!  :D  :D
