Having one of those days!
« on: March 12, 2009, 07:37:33 am »
Couldn't find my MC lid this morning so had to improvise and wonder how much a replacement was going to cost me.  Searched through bags of rubbish looking for it then went outside to see where I had thrown the loads of water I go through daily when cleaning bits and pieces over a bucket in the sink.  Yep, there it was, amongst the parsley. Happy ending.

Then had my disaster with the custard.  Had made Riv-mum's Chicken & Mushroom pot pies for tea and was going to do mashed potato with them but no, forgot I put the lid of the TM in the dishwasher and can't wait for that to finish.  So mashed potato the old fashioned way tonight.

Tomorrow is another day and hopefully, a better one.

:D  I have those days too!

You could still have done the potatoes without the MC.  You could just have stood a jug or ramekin over the hole - and yes, I know this from personal experience  :D
As my picture shows, I've suddenly become younger :-)  DD was of the opinion that her picture should be here, not mine!

Thanks Baf65 for that information.  If I throw the 'baby out with the dishwater' again and lose it permanently, at least I know it won't cost an arm and a leg to replace.  Are spare part prices listed anywhere on the net?

and dont forget, if you have any type of demo in march or april you are eligible to purchase an extra bowl and blade set for $100 off, if someone at your demo buys a machine you get $200 off....they are normally $395...bargain hey!

Thanks baf65, a price list of things people usually need to replace would be useful.  eg the spatula - mine is getting tatty looking.
Think the TM bowl will outlast me though and for just the 2 of us I find it ample.

i hardly ever use our spatula, only when things need mixing through the top. i'd much rather use my tupperware one to get stuff out of the bowl ;)

I'm like you Karen, I ind my tupperware spatula nice and flexible for getting stuff out of the bowl.

Baf65, do they make a carry bag for the Thermomix? My DH has decided we're taking ours away with us when we go fishing for the month of May.  The trouble is we take so much that everything gets a bit scratched and yuk. The Thermomix could end up shoved under the bed in the van next to the boat anchor. :'(

cookie, yes there is a bag for it, they are $120.  They are what consultants use to cart their machines around in, they are definitely worth if you are travelling as you dont want your machine being jumped around, it might ruin the scales or the electronics inside the machine.  They fit the whole machine in, and the Varoma as well

Mmmm, thanks for that. The bag obviously holds the machine fairly still as well. I don't think I'd like to carry it without.
There's an argument raging at the moment. Daughter says 'if you take the thermomix how am I going to cook things?"
She doesn't want to use all the gadgets we used before!
