A new discovery

Firstly I apologise to those who already know this tip but I had never heard it & when I did ...

In the Melbourne Herald Sun on Monday a lady had written in to a section in the paper called In Black & White to say that she had discovered that at either end of your cling wrap, tin foil or glad bake packets there are tabs that when pushed in they secure the rolls in place and they no longer bounce around!!

Of course I went straight to the cupboard & got out the cling wrap and tad-ah there it was, pushed them in and no more cling wrap bouncing around!!!!!

As they say small things amuse small minds but I,m loving it!

Ahhh Shan my (now) 16 year old has always been obsessed with boxes and packaging and he discovered those little tabs a few years ago from memory.   

I do recall feeling rather daft that I'd never noticed them before but they sure do make life a little easier!!

I only found out about this recently as well Shanmac.

I knew about it only because two or three years ago when Glad wrap offered  Christmas design wrap, there was a big sticker on the outside of the box with instructions on how to secure the roll by pushing in the tabs.

I don't use clingfilm in regular boxes, I buy the giant commercial rolls of Reynolds clingfilm at Costco or Sam's Club.  One box, 18 inches x 1000 feet, lasts me a few years and it's much easier to position a bowl or ? next to the (heavy) box pull out a length, secure it on one side and use the (very sharp) cutter on the end still connected to the roll.
It may seem like a lot of money but it is more economical in the long run. 
The regular stuff is not wide enough to cover most pans or large bowls so one has to use two lengths.  With the wider film, one length is enough and this stuff really clings, even to many plastics, as long as they have a smooth surface.

There were some like that in the UK 5 years ago not noticed it so much here (certainly on one brand but we don't tend to buy that)
