Recipes for One or Two - ideas please - for a customer
« on: December 06, 2011, 07:55:05 am »
I am calling for support please for a customer who is needing a pick-me-up - loves the Thermomix, but is tired out with always having to adjust recipes and cut them back to suit his single lifestyle.

Even recipes for two would be better than a demoralised fellow, who is getting out of the habit of using his Thermomix.

Could he do things like put a chicken breast into the varoma, one potato into the basket and what other vegies he likes into the varoma too. Once he could make a sauce and freeze it in ice blocks and then defrost a block of sauce and put it on his chicken and vegies.
Perhaps he could make up a mince dish with vegies and eat that. The next night he could add some tomato paste to the mince dish and have it with pasta and then the third night put the rest of the mince into a little dish and put either pastry or dumplings on it. Maybe make some meatballs.
Does he have a friend he could cook for some times and they could swap some of their extras?
Make a batch of soup and freeze it into serves.
The sauce from the sausages and onion recipe on here would be a good one to freeze in serves.
I'll keep thinking.
May all dairy items in your fridge be of questionable vintage.

Some good suggestions there Cookie.

If cooking for 1, I would probably cook 2 serves to make it easier on myself as it is pretty easy to halve recipes.  Leftovers could be frozen or eaten the next night.  What do our other single owners do?

Hi Cecilia,
I cannot speak highly enough of Diet-pro which is one of Radium Technologies software items to buy. I would buy it again in a whisper if I had to.
here is the link:-
http://www.radiumstore.com/servlet/the-Diet-Pro/Categories It is a USA program but it is entirely suitable for other countries including me in England. I have used it for years. It houses all my Thermy recipes and hundresds of others too. It is suitable for everyone whatever way you choose to eat. It is good for a diet as it will detail all the vits and minerals contained in the recipe.  One of the many things you can do is what you are asking Cecilia, as you can scale a recipe with a touch of a button to however many you want to cook for which is great for me as I live alone. It is worth every penny or should I say dollar.
You can have it for a demo first if you want so whats to lose.

Thank you all, dear forum friends, for your kind and practical suggestions.  They are some good, solid tips - very supportive.

Actually, I think there's a niche that Thermomix could exploit if there could be a recipe book meeting this exact need.

Somewhere else on the forum tonight someone else was posting about having such a lot of risotto left, so it's not just a few people facing this issue.  Great to have the advice of others.  Very helpful and encouraging.  Thanks a lot.

Thanks to JD for this "gold medal" suggestion - Vegetable Soup Three Ways:

I have just made a list of recipes suitable for 2-3 people Cecilia - your contacts may like to check here.

Oh, thank you, JD.  Most appreciated by me and will be for sure by those who are frustrated by needing to adjust most of the recipes they come across. I'm sure there'll be a book for these folk down the line, but your list will be great in the meantime.  :)
