bron, you have to remember us Aussies are not big on garlic - not into aioli (Lo siento - alioli ) or lots of garlic.  I love it, but forget when I make some dishes fro friends.  :o :o :o

Waddyamean thermomixer ??? I lurve garlic and everyone I know lurves garlic. Gimme garlic.

We also love garlic. In fact DD often says all her patients will be able to smell it on her.................too bad.
May all dairy items in your fridge be of questionable vintage.

I tried this a few weeks ago and must have done something wrong with the Varoma part because my meatballs were hardly touched at all at the end of the cooking period. There seemed not to be much heat coming out through the lid into the Varoma tray? What was I doing wrong?

I ended up chucking the meatballs in with the sauce, knowing full well I would end up with a bolognese sauce rather than meatballs LOL but it still tasted great.

Did you push the Varoma button Angela and made sure the lid was on correctly.  The TMX gets a whole heap of steam happening on Varoma temperature but if you pushed the 100 button by mistake, they certainly wouldn't have cooked.  Try steaming some vegies in the varoma dish (I always start with boiling water in the bowl when steaming vegies or rice to cut the cooking time) and see how you go.

Hi Angela, Varoma and speed 3 1/2 or speed 4 should have cooked them for sure as I have my varoma bowl and tray FULL of meatballs when I make this and they always cook. One thing to consider ... was there enough liquid in your sauce to create steam as it cooked?  - keep asking and giving information as you eliminate suggestions we make - you will get there!

My Thermomix (Stella) arrived yesterday and I made this for dinner last night.

I accidentally missed the part where I should have cooked the chopped veggies for a bit without the tomatoes, and we rolled 15 balls instead of 22, but it still cooked to perfection in the time you gave and we now  have a new family favourite that is super quick and easy - I'm extremely grateful!

yum, tried this today to leave something my partner could heat up for him & the kids for dinner while I go get drunk ;) and sneaked a bit to try. It's delicious! and so easy. I even minced the beef myself (organic, I'd bought a whole rump from the wholesaler).

Bron......the family gave your dish a big thumbs up!  ;D



I used 600g minced beef, which made 35 smaller meatballs which I spread out over both varoma trays.
I added a few basil leafs to the carrot mix too.  I added 2 slices of blitzed wholemeal bread to the mince mixture before rolling. I cooked it for 18 minutes.

In the sauce I also added a dozen basil leaves with the veggie mix sauce, and 2 tsp. cornflour.
The tomato quantity I used was 600g bottled passata sauce and 400g home grown cherrry tomatoes.

Family requests more meatballs next time, so I will have to increase quantities when I make it again  ;) My hubby has a lions appetite  :-))

Might also add some extra veggies into the sauce as well  (shhhhh.....don't tell the kids  ;))

Lush Maddy, they look amaaaaaaaaaazing! Pleased you enjoyed it, when I have leftovers, they freeze great too!Its a great versatile recipe, I sometimes make the sauce with courgettes, aubergines, onions red and green pepper and small tin of tomatoes, the kids havent got a clue! :-)) :-)) :-)) :-))

Yumm! Looks good! Being just the two of us I always freeze the left overs in portions just right for the two of us again. It's so handy and freezes so well!

I am steaming meats a little more these days, and I found these meatballs held together well.
I have made a few meatball dishes in the oven.....and they always crumble and fall apart!  :-))

I was happy to see Brons version kept their shape  :D
