Preparing for a demo

So, my demo is next week!  What do I need to know? What benefits can I get, personally? I read you get a discount on cookbooks, is that only one book? Which is the best book? (by best I mean the best variety, I suppose and the most reliable)

Is there any benefit to me as the host if a friend gets a TM as well?

thermomix isn't really party plan like other party plans, so the only benefit to being host that i'm aware of is that if you buy on the day you usually get a freebie - i got my silpat mat.  i didn't know about the discount on cookbooks, how much?

I didn't find out very much from the official site, including the price. Or why I should have a demo apart from getting to see it, of course.

it's kind of funny that you host the demo and don't get a whole lot out of it (other than spending your money to buy the machine ) yet most (not sure about karen) demonstrators (certainly my original one anyway) won't do the party unless you have a set number of households who are truly interested in the thermomix there.

Try contacting baf65 or Dean (Karen in Canberra) on here.  They are demonstrators and should be able to help here.

LOL - my wife ordered ours and it was supposed to include a FREE Thermoserver.  But we didn't do the delivery demo straight away and when we finally arranged the demo I had to pay 50% for it .

The Everyday book comes with it.  That will give you ideas for how to do most things - then the new vegetarian book has some good ideas.

If you can get them at half price with the demo then probably just as well to get the vego and seafood.  Brazen has a copy of the GF book so have a coffee and check it out.

i want the new vege one but absolutely can't justify (or source) $30 for a cookbook (though at least i USE the tmx ones unlike my others ). i am kicking myself that i didn't get my recipe in for the comp! lol

Is it worth springing for cookbooks at all? Is most of it online somewhere?

Karen said she was just happy to get the word out a bit here and didn't say I needed people to have any level of commitment. Just as well because I don't think I have any friends who want to spend that sort of money... but I could be surprised I guess.

What exactly is the Thermoserver (and the Silpat mat for that matter). That is a bummer about your 50% charge.

rowena, you ARE welcome to come for a coffee anytime, despite the hard time i gave thermomix-er lol  if you come quick enough i even have lime and coconut cookies to offer lol

when you invite people ask them to bring their dh's too - that is definitely the way to sell it! the men LOVE it and are totally convinced by seeing it in action. otherwise it's just another expensive kitchen gadget that their partner wants at yet another party plan party 

oh and i think you won't find many of the aussie book recipes online, except maybe the basic one which you get anyway.

I don't think DH was really impressed by the whole thing until he saw the sorbet video on Youtube. That is one impressive video. I did invite the husbands along. We'll see if anyone shows up!

Are GF and basic the only books with the table of contents online?

I can vouch for the thermosavers - use mine all the time. Meat dish sits in there whilst I cook the rice or the rice sits in there when I do the stir fried vegies.  Nice to serve from at the table too.

Hi,  Regarding guests - I usually ask hosts to invite any of their friends who are time poor, loves cooking, hates/can't cook, is health concious or has a dietry restriction (ie. Celiac, diabetic, dairy free).  Don't concentrate who is likely to purchase one or not.  At the end of the day even if the TMX isn't for them they might know someone else who might like to see it.
