Judy I have just pm ed you the list - use excel and it will automatically sort in alphabetical order, after pasting into an excel document on the RH top of the screen there is a sort and filter tab, click on this - sort A to Z.

Robyn, thank you so much for your help. You probably did that in 2 seconds whereas it would have taken me ages.  :-*  Much appreciated.

If we ever get together Robyn, we won't be discussing food, we will be sitting down at a computer for you to show me all these tricks you know.  What is excel ??? :-)) ;D  No, don't tell me, I don't want to get confused again ;)

Judy excel forms part of Microsoft Office and is an electronic spreadsheet program that can be used for storing, organising and manipulating data. Click on your programs and then go to microsoft office and excel is there together with word and powerpoint - not too confusing!!!!!

not such a silly thought really. perhaps at get togethers we could get a bit daunted by demonstrating food know how, when we really could benefit more by computer logic as of late the forum has taken off with some little pointers in the right direction...

You're a champ JD! Thanks for this post, there's a few I haven't seen so I'll be off to explore!
A great cook is one who can rustle up a fabulous family meal with some freezer burnt chops, wilted carrots, sprouting potatoes and cabbage that's gone brown on the cut edges.

OK I found Microsoft Office but then I get asked to enter my product key and I have no idea what or where that is  :-))
So when the spreadsheet comes up, did you just copy the list onto that Robyn and it went neatly into all the little boxes  :P
I have never used a spread sheet before and I thought you had to buy additional software for Microsoft Office.  I am really showing how dumb I am here, computerwise but it's best to be open about it as others may learn something too.  ;D

Jd i think i remember you saying you have Windows 7 and office is nô longer a free part of the package however you can use Microsoft office starter...when you click on the start or windows icône on far bottom left of your screen then on all programs then scroll down until you see a folder Microsoft office starter click on that then excel starter and you CAN use that without having to purchase office

Once on spreadsheet ie when excel opens you just copy and paste your text, then sélect it or click on the column letter which Will sélect the whole column then go to the Home tab if not already on it and towards the far right you have the sort button...click on that and sélect how you want to sort your text

Hope this helps and its not too confusing  ;D

I use excel for Model A money. I can enter on it and make it add up but that is all. I would love to learn more about them as I believe you can do heaps. Perhaps I should buy myself excel for dummies, or borrow it from the library.

I can live without it frozzie - everyone is flat out these days, including me.  This was the first instance it would have been handy and that doesn't happen very often.  Thanks for all the explanations girls, still non the wiser although at least I know how to find excel now  :P If I ever have nothing to do (ha) I could fiddle with it but I can't see that happening.
