Maddy for me its just this appearing out of nowhere with absolutely on trace anywhere them poof à book and all That goes with it and also unknown authors dont go around charging That price and often évén IF you havé Nevers heard of them you CAN always find something about them...look i wish her all thé best but i do find it à bit naïve to buy à book and at 50 aud IF im not mistaken just because its thermomix
From somebody That nobody has ever heard of....Normally you Will always find peuple talking about them on forums etc but nada. I dont care IF your à blogger or mum at home and do a cookbook...i Know à number of people on this forum who would succeed at just That but in todays âge im sorry word always gets out somewhere ..

Nô offense Alyce like i said i wish her all thé best but thats m'y opinion and i think you all Know by now im not really thé little sheep That follows thé herd...lol

I Will however wait for reviews but find thé book à bit pricey for somebody so unknown...my opinion but im pretty sûre im not thé only one  :)

Ps maddy you dont count as you buy everything lol  :P

OK I'm going to lay it on the line. Here's my thoughts:

Positives:
Add 1 point there is another TM cookbook out on the market
Add 1 point if its not connected to Vorwerk and hostessing parties
Add 1 point if the book is well priced
Add 1 point if the book is well presented
Add 3 points if the recipes are user friendly and delicious

Negatives:
Take 1 point if its a new book controlled by Vorwerk and subject to conditions like hostessing a party
Take 1 point if the author has never been on the forum until the book is planned and being released, and to promote it
Take 2 points if the author only logs on to answer queries about their $$$ interests ie. in relation to their products and nothing else that is happening on the forum
Take 1 point if the author never offers any cooking advice in relation to their recipes (or others here for that matter)
Take 1 point if the author does a link from the forum to their website
Take 2 points if the author doesn't give out a few freebies on the forum for all the free advertising and marketing they are getting away with - cos its expensive in the real world and they know it

(ie. there is the chance to be -1 point if the author falls soley into the negative zone)

I am a little confused by the skepticism towards this book and author  :-\ I know we have all purchased books from unknown authors.
i am more than  happy that more tmx books Are being published.
My copy arrived today, and looking forward to cooking many things  :)

I agree Maddy. I think the more Thermomix books out there the better. I only wish I had started developing one with a close friend over a year and a half ago when we first started throwing the idea around.

I am the one who contacted Alyce, initially about placing a bulk order for my fellow Thermomix consultant team members. I also told her in our emails back and forth about the thread here and suggested it might be good for her to sign up and answer some of the questions raised. She had no idea there was a thread about her and her book on the forum and I think it is always best to get info from as close to the source as possible.

I came across the Facebook page for this book a couple of months ago and had been keeping an eye on it. Just before Christmas I sent an email to my team asking if anyone was interested in ordering with me ... we ordered 20 - this equated to $37 a book each with shipping as there was a special on.

I liked that it is a book that also gives back - $2.00 per book to the World Hunger Program whilst it doesn't seem a lot I suspect after all costs are covered is a fair contribution.

I also liked that the shipping was absolutely cheap for 20 books - it equated to $2.00 per book. Most people would charge more than that because people expect to pay more and they then pocket the extra .

I still need to cook more from the book (too darn hot at the moment ) but so far I have enjoyed the book and think it was worth the money.I have paid the same amount of money for a TMX AUST book that isn't hardback and nicely bound and most certainly doesn't have a coloured picture for EVERY recipe.

To be fair, not every one is into technology, blogging, Facebook etc until they find there is a need for it. They start the journey with a simple web page then find to SEO the page it helps to have a Facebook page for example and they are then enlightened from there  (e.g. Meagan passing the info on)

I am looking forward to receiving my book. Hope it comes before we go to  kalbarri.

Having just returned from a trip to Melbourne and eating out twice per day, i would say the recipes would be good. We ate in many different restaurants and not once did we have a bad meal, all the meals were of a high standard and well priced compared to perth. My 2 fav places were neil perrys rockpool & number 8. Alyce is from Melbourne so I am sure the recipes will be of a high standard.

CP3, you have made a number of very valid points. All I was trying to do was to obtain more info eg have the recipes being tested etc.
Normally, this info is usually available ...at least by asking these questions it gives ALyce an opportunity to answer these queries and tell us a bit more about herself and her experience.

I have read all the posts in the section and they are all valid. Atm I am not willing to pay $50 on a book I know little about. I am on a tight budget which enables us to pay our mortgage off faster. I have so many recipes from here to try first. I have however put it on my wish list. I allow myself $10 per week to spend on my wish list. If it costs more than $10 I have to wait til I have the required amount before purchasing (or wait til my birthday or christmas). I do the same with DS. He has a wish list and gets $10 per week pocket money for doing chores.

DG that is an excellent idea. I do something similar. The money is for wants and not needs. Quite often when I have the money I don't want the item any more. It gives me thinking time.

Cookie I often change my list as after awhile I find that the things I want aren't really necessary. I used to buy alot of things on a whim, especially if they were on sale. I thought I was getting a bargain, but really I was wasting my money. I also want DS to realise the value of money and that we can't hae everything we want.

The  Fresh Corn, Pancetta & Chives  p78 gets a big tick for tastiness and ease. Serves 4 apparently but it sounds like Alyce doesn't have a son with hollow legs so tonight it served just 3. Tropical Sorbet p198 was smooth like icecream and a guilt free dessert cos there was no added sugar (100% frozen fresh fruit). There was only 3 people  eating tonight and there was stacks of this left over so I've put into ice cube trays for another night.

Thanks CP63 - I'm really looking forward to this book. Have ordered it and it should be here soon.   For those who have not the joys of keeping up with the eating habits of SWHL's (sons with hollow legs), particularly when they're heading towards 7' tall! you really must factor in 2-3+ serves extra per meal :D  One of the interesting things about SWHLs is that when they start refusing that extra helping . . or saying they're not hungry . . you can bet your bottom dollar they're coming down with something - long before there are any other symptoms ;)

CP,  thanks for the reviews.  Will try both of these now.  Alyce attended a bread cooking class at my place,  back in March last year.  DH took a photo of the group.  I have asked Alyce if I may post the photo and identify her .  She says yes,  so will do this today.

Choosiest, do you run classes? I'm on the lookout for some in Melbourne, I know your a bit further away but it would be great to get some of your bread as well as TMX wisdom.

Here is the Photo.  All the people in the photo are Consultants or Group Leaders.  It was great to have a group who knew so much about the TMX. Alyce is the one in the white top with the black TMX apron.  My Consultant ,  the lovely Anita,  is on the right in Black. We work with 4 TMXs.  In groups of 2.  It really was a fun day.
