Another newbie from Adelaide

I am married with 2 primary school aged children. I enjoy cooking and cake decorating and am really happy with my new Thermo Chef.  I have had it for a few weeks now and can see myself getting really fat if I don't watch myself!  I have got some boxes of strawberries from the local farmers market and have made jam, smoothies, strawberry tart, not to mention some wicked daiquiri's. I've also stashed more strawberries in the freezer to make ice cream. We also picked blueberries from Mt Compass on Wednesday, so I've made blueberry ice cream and smoothies too. I've also made cream puffs (with custard), pavlova,shortbread, pouring custard on Christmas day, chocolate creme. I can't wait to adapt my chocolate pavlova recipe. See my problem? I have a serious sweet tooth.
I have also made some savoury dishes.  Ive made lasagne and a really yummy chicken in yoghurt dish that I told my son was butter chicken which he loved.

I've joined the forum because the book that came with my Thermo Chef is rather concise, and I understand that this is a friendly forum. I have also downloaded the Thermomix  and RoboGourmet apps for my iPad. My only problem is wrangling the iPad away from the rest of the family when I want to cook!

Welcome to the forum! I also have enormous difficulty wrestling my iPad away from the kids when I need to cook! I just tell them  that If I don't get my iPad back, there won't be any dinner and that always seems to work.

Hi EmeraldSue welcome to the forum.  You are not alone with the sweet addiction, check out some of the beautiful cakes and desserts our members make.  I'm more of a savoury person with just the odd dessert,cake or cookie for which my hips thank me. I can still look at the pictures and drool though - unless we can share with visitors there is no point as I would have to eat them all myself and I hate to think how I would end up. Now daiquiris, that's a different matter altogether

Welcome to the Forum. There are many great recipes here, sweet and savoury.
If I'm stuck for ideas for dinner I just look up the recipes here. It's really good because most recipes have tweaks and reviews from other members that have already tried them out. Enjoy your T.C.

Welcome Sue, Hum daiquiri's, can you guys give me a lead as to where to find these delicious little treats. I haven't made one of these yet. I have a bucket of Mango daiquiri slush that I bought from Coles, but would love to make my own.  We all deserve one treat everyday. Sorry Sue got side tracked there, enjoy .

A freshly made daiquiri is so much better than the premixes. I'm actually sipping a strawberry one now. I've modified the recipe in my  TC cookbook a little. It's basically fresh fruit, white rum, ice, a little lemon juice and maybe a little sugar all wizzed together. Would you like me to post a recipe?

Yes Please,  I'm sure my lovely neighbours will be calling by tomorrow for New Years Cheers and I could surprise them even further than I have with a home made daiquiri, I have all the listed ingredients, I think they are nearly ready to buy their own TMX , dear neighbour is starting to come in and get me to whip up a few things for her..

Thanks for the link to your daiquiri recipe - it's very similar to mine. I should have done a search first. I'll get the hang of this forum soon I hope. Ive posted on the page with your recipe. I hope that this is the way it works!

Ive just worked out how to update my profile and have added a photo. I was trying to use a photo of a green cake, but my computer wouldn't allow me to choose it. Maybe I'll get the computer wizz of the family to help me later....

I'm dying to give bread another go but it's just too hot to contemplate putting the oven on. My first attempt was OK, but i think it suffered from my impatience. I used the yeast and bread flour that had been lying around for a couple of years. I've now stocked up on fresh ingredients, but the weather has conspired against me!

EmeraldSue, have you seen this thread about baking bread in summer in a breadmaking machine but mixing the dough in the Thermomix. Djinni came up with the idea and Chookie and others have run with it.
