I think this will help me use this book JD. I don't think I have made anything form the book as just flicking through it I don't really get inspired  :-\ (I think it is the lack of pictures!!)

I'm just wondering....
1. If anyone has this book
2. If you use it/recommend it
3. Any stand out dishes (other than the few mentioned here on the forum)

I'm just wondering if I 'need' it....  ;)

I have it Jamberie and I think it is better than our EDC but I've only done 3 things from it.  I rarely use any of my books these days, there are just too many recipes out there with reviews and I like converting some of my own old favourites as well.  If you want it, can afford it, get it but it isn't really necessary.

So that's yes, yes & yes Kimmy ;)
My mum is going to visit her sister in the UK in a few months so I thought she might be able to bring one home...if she has enough room!

thanks Judy :)
That's enough of a yes for me ;D
The recipes sound a bit better than the EDC ones, but if You say it is better than our EDC it must be!

That's only because it has so many more recipes in it Jamberie. Remember I haven't done many from it so perhaps the UK girls have done more recipes and can let you know if they work or need to be tweaked.

I have done quite a few recipes from it and realised only yesterday that there aren't many reviews on here for its recipes.  I'll try and rectify that soon

I have it and like it.

Prefer their versions of:
Mashed potato
Bechamel sauce
Choc and hazelnut spread
Plum jam
Boiled eggs
Pasta dough
Quiche Lorraine
Lasagne

I love their:
Quick sponge cake
Lemon drizzle cake - actually called tangy lemon cake with lemon drizzle!
Langues de chat biscuits
Old fashioned limonada - and associated 'economical fruit spread'
Chicken liver pâté
Guacamole
Whole egg mayonnaise
Quick polenta
Gravy
Polpettone Italian meatballs
Chickpea curry
Apple and kiwi jam
Strawberry jam
milk rolls/burger buns/finger rolls
Quick puff pastry (just tried this on the weekend for a caramelised onion flan - delicious!!!)
Vetebrod - though I usually do them like the ikea ones/cinnamon rolls
Butter biscuits

Not so keen on:
Quick apple compôte - as I prefer to slow cook and hence caramelise my apples - au naturel!!

Interesting exercise going through and seeing which recipes I've done!

Most of them I have enjoyed. I think I ought to try something from the fish section and the smoke loin of pork (Kassler) & Savoy cabbage.  Though I've never seen a Savoy cabbage over here in the shops!!

My view? You can never have too many cooking books...  Nor gadgets... Nor sewing related paraphernalia!!!

Have fun!
Gillian ;-)

It definitely is, thanks for that teagg.  Perhaps you could do some reviews when you do recipes from the UK book so that I can link them to the short list already on the forum.

Gillian I've made the Kassler Pork.We loved it.I even made the soup that is suggested in the book with the leftovers.
The Cherry and Almond cake is wonderful, but be warned it makes a huge cake.
I'll have to go through the book and see what I've made too. :)
