Judy you are a star!! I was just thinking today of all the books there are now that we have others publishing TMX books too. It will certainly keep you busy for a while even just updating them in the future!!  :-* :-*

Hi everyone,

I wonder if you might be able to help me - while I try and help you!

I've bought "In The Mix" and it looks amazing.  With a bit of spare time up my sleeve I'm going to - in the style of Julie and Julia - make each one of the recipes over the next while.

I'll be blogging about my experiences - tips, tricks and feedback on the recipes - and as a new blogger I would love your feedback on what I've written and if it helps you.  I've been in touch with Dani Valent, the author - and she has given me her blessing to get cooking!!

My blog can be found at www.inthemixtricks.com

As I mentioned - I am VERY new to blogging so some of the technology is giving me some challenges, but I'm sure there's nothing I can't fix!!

Cheers,
Herbal

I don't have a blog or the book herbal but good luck with your project, it is going to keep you very busy and it will be interesting to read if your first recipe experience/review is anything to go by.  You have posted in the right thread, our members will know where to find your blog link here.

Thanks Cookie and Judydawn - if I can be half as impressive as many of the bloggers that post here regularly, I'll be delighted.

So far I've done the Pomegranate and Beetroot Salad, and the tomato shots. Foolishly I didn't take photos of the tomato shots, but they were really good!! I've had an idea for presentation which I really want to try out before I take the photos - and I didn't have everything I needed at the time!

I have bought the ingredients for about six more recipes this week though!! Now just to find the time (and the spare calories!!)

White Bean & Truffle Soup
Has anyone tried the White Bean & Truffle Soup?

I came home at 6:45pm, starving hungry and realised that I could cook this soup with its variations in 15 mins with lots of leftovers for lunch tomorrow and to freeze.

I followed the recipe variations to the letter, using 3 cans of cannellini beans instead of dried beans, and 20g of truffle oil. The soup is thin, and it's subtle flavour is VERY subtle to the point of non-existence. It's a bit like dishwater to be honest. The description says that it's "surprisingly hearty" but to even approximate a meal, I've had to use the rest of my expensive cheese to make cheese on toast to go with it.

I'm so disappointed I could cry... what went wrong?!

Sorry to hear that alioc, it doesn't appear as if anyone has done that recipe.

I think I figured out the problem.

In the original version of the recipe, it calls for dried beans and 1.5kg of water. In the variation, it says you can use 3 cans of cannellini beans with no adjustment to the water amount. Surely, canned beans are not going to absorb the same amount of water, so you need to add less. I think if the recipe was adjusted to 1kg of water, it would have some flavour. Even so, there was only half an onion and one clove of garlic, so not a lot of flavour to start with.

I showed my partner and he agreed that it looked like the water that we pour out of Thermi when we've done a cleaning "cycle".

I've been trying to find a link for members to get in touch with Dani Lavent if they have any problems with her recipes.  All I can come up with is her Facebook page .  You could send her a pm through the forum but I notice she hasn't been on here for a couple of months so I don't think that method would work.  If anyone has a more private method of contacting Dani for these queries, please let me know and I will add the link to the listing of her book - I think it is important for books of this quality and price that we are able to get answers from the author when we have problems.

Hi Judydawn,

There is an email address at the beginning of the book that people can use.  Failing that, I'm going to the class tomorrow night in Melbourne, so I can ask then and post the answer on here on Thursday morning?

Cheers,

Thanks Herbal.  I don't have the book so would appreciate that address to put on the link if you find out at the class tomorrow night that it is the best method of contacting Dani.
