Question about Celebration Cocktail in EDC (p29)
« on: January 05, 2012, 03:35:48 am »
Hi there.  I would like to make the Celebration Cocktail recipe from EDC for a garden party this weekend but I'm finding the recipe is not clear.  It says "1 bottle chilled Pinot" but is this Pinot Noir, Pinot Grigio or some other Pinot I've never heard of?

It's all very well learning by trial and error but this is quite an expensive item to serve so I don't want to get it wrong.

It also calls for 25g brandy and 25g martini.

I'm right with the brandy but I understood martini to be a concoction of other ingredients.

If I can't get advice, I think I'll have to scrap this one, which is a pity as it looked exciting on first impression but the lack of clarity is annoying me.

I have never taken any notice of this recipe Cecilia and it is rather unclear in it's directions.  Maybe an email to H.O. might be in order.  To me it is very much like a fruity sangria and this recipe from Taste.com is slightly similar and much easier to understand.

Thanks, JD.  I messaged Tenina and she wrote to say it wasn't one of hers, not that I thought it was, being so roughly listed.  Oh well - off the agenda I think.  :(

Thanks, fundj.  I've lost my enthusiasm for the recipe now though, what with our cold weather not helping me imagining serving cocktails and then feeling ignorant and frustrated when I read the recipe more closely.

So annoying when those recipes in the EDC are useless!
A great cook is one who can rustle up a fabulous family meal with some freezer burnt chops, wilted carrots, sprouting potatoes and cabbage that's gone brown on the cut edges.

Dear cookie, JD, fundj and MJ - I do so appreciate your collegial support tonight.  I'm sorry for having a moan.  I love many of the recipes in EDC myself because I'm still fairly much a TMX beginner as I haven't had my machine for more than ten months.  I naturally look first in the EDC, although I own every Aus TMX recipe book except Alyce's which is on order.

If I have time tomorrow I might go to the bottleshop and look for a bottle of martini.  Thanks again all for being so kind.  I'm not so stressed now.
