Big thank you from a Thermo Chef owner.
« on: January 07, 2012, 05:18:46 am »
How many of you reading this have a Thermo Chef.  Well I have had mine for close to 2 months now, and I love it.  But I think all Thermo Chef owners would agree with me, that the recipe book that comes with the machine is so small as to be almost non existent.

I don't know how many times over the last two months, I have silently thanked my lucky stars that I found this site.  In fact so many times I have been rescued, pointed in the right direction, salvaged a fun but rather disastrous cooking session etc that I think it timely to stop being silent on this matter.

I would like to say a very hearty and heartfelt THANK YOU to all of the wonderful people on this site.  I appreciate very much your acceptance of we Thermo Chef owners and your willingness to share your knowledge of all things "Thermie".

I would also like to encourage other Thermo Chef owners to acknowledge their appreciation of this gift of knowledge and friendship.  :-* :-* :-*
Cheers, Nola.

I heartily agree.I have had my thermo Chef for a few weeks now. I remember taking it out of the box, reading the book and wondering where on earth to start. I had been to a couple of Thermomix demos and one Thermo Chef demo, so I knew what they were capable of, but it was a bit daunting when i finally put the machine on the counter. I wasn't sure what to do with it at first.  I tried a few things from the book that came with the TC, but I quickly searched the internet and found this fabulous forum. I haven't stopped since ;D

I enjoy cooking, hate washing up and love new recipes. I have so many cookbooks which I love reading, but the internet makes things so much easier to search for recipes. I am the sort of cook who opens the cupboard or freezer or fridge and decides what to cook based on what I have available. I love shopping at my local farmers market and using what's in season. I have converted my son's sandpit into a vege patch and have tomatoes ripening, rainbow chard going to seed and butternut pumpkins  taking over the garden. Soon I'll be looking for tomato recipes....

So, thank you from me too

It is very generous of you both to acknowledge that you have TC but are using TMX recipes.  As the machines are not the same it is important that TC users say that they have a TC when they are having problems with recipes on this site.  TMX owners,  mostly have limited knowledge of all the workings of the TC,  but just the absence of the reverse function can cause a recipe to fail.  I know Nola and Rosie have found ways to compensate for this,  but I still wonder if the result is as good as it is in the TMX.
Nola, i have enjoyed your trials and tribulations and hope you continue to entertain us with your adventures.

yes I must agree that its also fun to have TC's here as well. perhaps once you tweak the recipe make sure you post your TC tweak so that TC newbies can be guided (but make it known that its for your machine so TM newbies don't think they need to do it as well).

That's a great idea CreamPuff,  I will do that from now on.  Although having said that, I haven't had to change very much at all when using these recipes.  If a recipe calls for reverse, I automatically use the butterfly and speed 1, and if it calls for a 4 minute knead, I just give it 2 minutes, rest for 1 minute and then another 2 minutes.

Any problems I have had have been due to me being a klutz.  As I have said in other posts, a cook I am not, and I am just coming around to realise that cooking is fun - especially when you really don't have to do it.  Hubby and I cook on alternate nights, but since TC, I often cook on my nights off.  How's that for dedication above and beyond :-))
Cheers, Nola.

I need to find a wife that cooks.   :)  If I want to eat anything other than toasted sandwiches or tinned spaghetti than I have to do the cooking.  It also doesn't help that DW doesn't come home from work until 7-8 most nights.

Thanks for starting this thread Nola - it is very important to identify yourselves as TC owners so as not to confuse our TMX people - we don't want to be sending them the wrong message. If you post your own recipes you have converted, it would also be wise to say it was for the TC  as well.
It's lovely to have you on board, you fit in so well with this forum and we love people who have a great sense of humour.

That is exactly the sort of thing my DH says.
