CC,  glad SIL liked it.  Did you/ she let it mature?

He loves your chutney Chookie :D I'll let it mature for the two months before he can get his hands on it ;)

Off to the market tomorrow to get pears and ginger to make this chutney again.
It is fantastic with cheese and crackers.
It is a winning recipe.
Thanks

Hi Chookie. Can I ask why you put the lids on when cold?  I thought to keep preserves etc they had to be sealed hot?

When there is vinegar involved, I always seal when cold, and use a plastic top. Jams and jellies I seal hot.
I think it is something to do with the condensation or water on the lid that can encourage mould to grow.

I am just cooking another batch of this chutney.
It is great for gifts as it is just a bit different but really nice especially with cheese.
Thanks once again. ACW.

As I’ve not made this chutney before I thought I’d give it a go for the nursing home trading table after reading the excellent reviews.  It will mature just in time for using after Christmas when most people have cold meats to use up.  This is the only recipe I’ve made that makes a decent quantity so only 1 batch is needed - I have 5 jars of this recipe to go with the other things I’ve made.
