Potato Salad Question
« on: January 08, 2012, 01:05:03 pm »
I've just made Tenina's Pesto Potato salad which is yummy!!! except next time I'd use a little less garlic in pesto part.

I just wanted to know in order to save time next time, can I boil eggs at the same time that I am steaming potatoes?

Also, how long should I steam potatoes for in order for the potatoes to be the right tenderness. The recipe on her site is not a TMX one so was hoping someone could advise. I think I steamed them for 20 minutes but a little too crunchy.

You can certainly add the eggs with the potatoes and steam them together.

The length of time needed for cooking the potatoes will depend on how small you cut them.   It also does vary with the type of potato that you use so it's probably just a matter of finding out what will work for you...    Sorry that there's no simple answer  :) :)

Yes cooking times for potatoes does vary.  I usually start checking the potatoes (sticking a fork into a piece) from about 15 minutes onwards.
