Household Cleaning Roster

I am trying to establish a household cleaning roster for myself and was wondering if any of you use one. eg monday's for sweeping and mopping, tuesday's washing etc

I am sure someone here can help you though, and who knows they may inspire me to get a bit more of a routine happening

Since having my son 9 weeks ago, I've set up myself up with a roster and it has been great.  I have set it up so I have daily, once a week, once a month and once a quarter jobs. 

We had saved up to get a cleaner for the first 3 months but so far I haven't felt the need to get one.  So I figure that money can go towards a new wardrobe for me once I lose the extra pregnancy kgs.

Since doing it, the house has never been cleaner and I don't feel like I do housework all day.  The jobs for each day generally only take 30 mins.

Everyday
washing, hang on clothes horse
empty dishwasher in the morning, ready for the day of dirty dishes.  Can get this done while waiting for the kettle
Quick enjo mop of the floorboards on non vacuuming days
prep dinner when kids are in bed in the morning makes cooking at night so much easier, especially now with my TM

Weekly jobs
Sunday - strip beds, wash sheets/towels and make beds - nothing better than clean sheets on a sunday after a busy weekend usually outside in the garden
Monday - vacuum whole house and mop main living area - whole house is floor boards, de-cobweb
Tuesday - clean upstairs bathroom
Wednesday - clean downstairs bathroom, rubbish bins
Thursday - dusting (furniture, window sills, skirting boards) trying to declutter these surfaces to make this an easy job
Friday - vacuum whole house and mop bedrooms

I clean the fridge the night before a big shop, easy to do when the fridge is empty
Managed to clean the pantry  on the weekend, so picked a date in 3 months time in the diary to do again
By no means does my house sparkle, but at least I get the basics done.

This makes me feel really hopeless, ive always thought of our house as clean but it would never have seen a vacuum twice a week - well done!

I have two dogs and a cat who come inside and a 18 month old who constantly points out the dust balls or eats them.  Floorboards are alot easier than carpet.

I have a daily / weekly roster and my older kids all have their own chores as well. The two little ones are helping out where needed at the moment (i.e. if one of their brothers is sick or still at work they have to help either DH or I do their chore) along with their beds and rooms every day.

No way is my house spotless but it certainly is liveable and clean.

Also if I happen to be sick then everyone know what needs to be done to help me out so I don't have a huge catch up when I get back on my feet.

I am the same and find it helps me feel as though I am not spending all my day doing house work.

I am not a routine person, I do what needs to be done when I feel like it.  I do the basics everyday but I can go into my bedroom to make the bed, pick up the paper from the end of the bed and take it out to the green bin and somehow get stuck into the garden and end up filling the green bin.  Hours later, take something to my bedroom and see I haven't made my bed yet Certainly no routine with housework but with caring for DH, well that's another matter and I am very good with my routine there     With me it is all about priorities.

I have a cleaning lady that comes once a week. My job is to pay her.

We are talking of a cleaning lady this year for us ... the older kidlets are even talking of paying more board to go towards paying her so that they can get out of their chores

Katheryn when our adult dd moved back home while waiting for a house to become available we made her pay a third of the cost of the cleaning lady.  She wasn't impressed but we gave her the option of doing her share of the cleaning instead and she opted to pay.

There is only DW and myself so there really isn't alot of cleaning needed but we both work hard and I spend a couple of hours a day training for triathlons. I would rather pay someone to clean so we can enjoy our time away from work.

I suppose I sort of have a roster. There's daily jobs like floor, beds, dishes, cooking etc. I do a house clean on Mondays and do the ironing. DD vacuums on Sundays. Wednesdays I shop for food. Fridays I go the bigger shopping centre and do the bits there and maybe meet someone for coffee.
But all that is variable and is often changed at the drop of a hat. I visit a couple of very old  (90 this year for one) friends. It all got messed up today as DD had a fall at work and injured her knee. She is on crutches for 3 days and then 1 crutch for a few days. I had rather a big chuckle as she is very unco-ordinated and seeing her use the crutches is painful for both of us. She had to be picked up from work and then her car picked up as well. She said she is bored already. I guess that happens when you're busy all the time. I'm going to sit her at the bench tomorrow and she can make bread.

I could NEVER have a roster. My life is too unpredictable.

My DH changes his mind about what he's doing at the drop of a hat and my job is to run around after him. During harvest I had to go out to the farm at least 3 times a day!

Then, if I receive a whole lot of Skinflint orders, (as I did today) everything gets put on the back burner while I check stock, pack and post if I have stock or make products, then label, then pack and post.

I do a full clean once a week, but it's always on different days. Big jobs like windows, cleaning of fridge etc. get done when I have time.

I envy people who can organise their lives so easily. Dashingden, I'd love to have a cleaner. I have both sons home at the moment working here, so should have though to charge board and use it to pay a cleaner. Trouble is, when kids are home helping on the farm, it doesn't count....
