I have heaps of apricots and want to stew some. Anyone got suggestions to do in TM please. Just not sure of what temp or how long and how much water etc I should add. Thanks in advance.

Than Judy. I knew you would come to my rescue. Will give it a try shortly. I made some Icecream in anticipation for a reply.

I made a lovely apricot jam the other day. 1 kg apricots, 1 kg jam sugar, a squeeze of lemon and cooked it on 100 for about 20 minutes then on Varoma until it set. About another 10 minutes I think.

Judy is 4 min cook time right? Mine were still hard after 4 minutes. Have just added an extra 7 minutes to cook them to my liking. Did you mean 14 minutes by any chance?

No Dede, I had set it for 5 minutes but they were done by 4 mins - mine were quite ripe, what are yours like? Did you use boiling water?

Some of mine were harder and others were ripe. I now think 11 minutes was slightly to long. I think 7 minutes would of been better. Oh well I'm sure we will eat them anyway. I love stewed apricots. Oh and yes I did use the boiling water.
Thanks

Obviously cooking times are going to be different for each batch of apricots but a minute at a time after a certain point would be the way to go.

I agree 100%. Live and learn. I think I just assumed you meant 14 minutes and not 4 minutes as they were still quiet hard at 4 minutes.
