Recipe Review Coffee Frappe Quick Fix in the TMX page 214
« on: January 18, 2012, 02:40:15 am »
Made this to have with our lunch, not knowing exactly what frappe was.  :-)) I thought it was just iced coffee but googling it soon set me on the right train of thought.  Mine looks nothing like the picture but with slight tweaks tasted great. Wasn't sweet enough for me so I added 2 heaped tspn icing sugar at the end along with a couple more glugs of milk as it was a fairly strong coffee flavour with 10g coffee being 6 tspns.  I used espresso instant coffee.  We ended up drinking it from a very thick straw and both enjoyed it.  I told DH it was frappe, he told me it tasted just like coffee  :D :D :D

One glass won't do you any harm Kathryn - there are enough adults in your house to share the rest with. Lovely on a hot day and will be a special treat here too.

Oh faffa_70, you have to make it, as it is deeeeeelicious  ;D

I made it exactly as the recipe and thankfully I had 3 teens to share it with otherwise yes I would have scoffed the lot!!!  Their verdict? Just like Maccas, which was praise indeed.  Next time I would probably add whipped cream on top to make it totally and utterly indulgent  :P

I give this recipe a 5/5 and the perfect hot weather drink, loved it.

Made this yesterday for coffee loving DH. Although he doesn't like milky drinks he loved this and said he would definitely have it again. Great for a hot day and mix makes more than enough for 3 people. 5/5 from this house.

Knittercook I love your way of thinking  ;)

I love a Mocha Frappe and would love to add some drinking chocolate to the mix, top with cream and  sprinkling of chocolate on top  ;D

You could even add some syrups to change the flavour slightly. the possibilities are endless  :)

I made this tonight with decaf coffee to get through the current Melbourne heat wave. I actually believe it is quite healthy even though it looks  very decadent. The majority of the ingredients is ice cubes. Also, I used skim milk  and slightly more sugar than in the recipe but basically 50g sugar and 100g milk divided amongst 4 people as the recipe suggests is hardly anything per person. Also, the butterfly whips up the frappe so well you'd think you are eating something with a lot of cream in it. All round, an amazing recipe and I can think of all sorts of possibilities eg adding a little bit of amaretto or almond liquer etc. Also, as Judy suggested, next time I might use less instant coffee, but that is my personal preference, I didn't think the coffee taste was overwhelming but I am just not a huge coffee person! Well done Alyce- another brilliant yet simple recipe and as a bonus, I'm thinking of the electricity I saved not having to put the aircon on!!

We were having the same discussion too about how healthy it really is and that you don't even feel the need for whipped cream etc as it is so decadent in mouth feel  :D

Maybe I could make this everyday and not share  :-[ :-[ :-[ :D

Merlin, you've put such a healthy slant on that recipe that no-one should feel guilty having it whenever they feel like it  ;D
