Green and all newcomers, be aware that you can't use the butterfly at speeds over 4.  Others have tried it and disaster has struck - little bits of black plastic throughout your mixture. Just a warning in case you haven't read this anywhere else.

I made this cake over the weekend and although it was edible and nice it was quite heavy and stodgy, has anyone else had that problem?

no mine turned out beautiful  ;D it was moist being a banana cake, but not too heavy.

Hi Rainbow,  Sorry you didn't like the cake.  Did you use Self Raising flour?  Plain flour would make it very heavy.

Hi Trudy, yes to SR flour but later I thought that my 3 banana's  were very large so maybe just a bit heavy on the banana's, we still managed to eat it   ;D and I will try it again.  :)

Bought me 7 ripe bananas for 1€ here in Spain so i decided to go for the Banana cake :)

Very nice cake and did not turn out to be heavy. I did not use the TM though and i also changed a bit in the order of ingredients as i think you get the same result with less work if you stir the eggs with the sugar and then sift in the flour and the melted butter.

Also i did not use any milk but i did add some chunks of white chocolate instead  :P

Used normal flour and 1tsp of baking powder and a pinch of salt

Its a 22cm silicone mold with metal on the top to keep the shape.

Im usually not that found of silicone molds as they are always too soft and loses their shape when you bake in them, but this one is very nice and they are very easy to clean :)

Good work - I love ripe bananas - but all my staff throw them out when a spot of black hits them !!!

When they go brown I throw them straight in the freezer to make shakes, ice cream or cakes.

Me too KateCooks, DH throught them out yesterday because they where in 'his firdges freazer' just after we had banana breaky bread for breakfast.  I went and rescued them and put them back,  I remember not buying them when they got to $14 a kilo so even at $3 a kilo here in WA I can't waste them.
